The US holds presidential elections every four years, but the campaign season usually starts much earlier—sometimes even two years in advance. As a result, election "years" seem longer. Midterm elections are held halfway through a president's term, so the political cycle never really ends. Essentially, presidential election years seem longer due to extended campaigning and media coverage.
The years we had Biden in office seemed to last forever
The month of February. Elections take place during leap years.
the year is longer because it's always a leap year
