Compatibility vs Commitment?

It seems more common than ever to hear people say they won't commit until they've lived together or tested their sexual compatibility first.

To many, committing before knowing feels like buying a pig in a poke. But, when did commitment become something we postpone until every uncertainty has been removed?

If every relationship has to prove itself before it deserves commitment, has commitment become the destination instead of the foundation?

If we're willing to share our bodies, our homes, or even bring children into the world before we're willing to make a lasting commitment, are we building love or simply hoping commitment will appear after everything else already has?

So I'm curious, Is compatibility something we discover before commitment, or something we build because of commitment?

At what point does protecting ourselves from risk become avoiding vulnerability?

Has our pursuit of certainty strengthened relationships or quietly made commitment more conditional than ever?

In trying so hard to avoid choosing the wrong person, have we forgotten what it truly means to choose someone?
