Supposedly.
Back in the mid `80's, I was in college and a few people I always hung with mentioned that we'd just had an Earthquake moments before and asked me if the ground shook? I didn't.
About 15 years ago, I was at work at the print shop and a friend of mine came into the bindery from the web press and asked if I just felt the ground shape a few moments ago. I THINK I actually felt that but, not really. Then, either he or someone else mentioned that it was actually a nuclear explosion underground and they were destroying one of the many tunnels the government built going from the White House to, wherever. They supposedly have these tunnels that run all over the planet so the Pres., in an emergency, can get from the White House to wherever he needs to be, a lot quicker and, supposedly, Soetoro decided to have one destroyed at that point to keep something bad from happening to him during some major crisis he was in the middle of, at the time.
Here in Guam, I've felt tremors on two occasions. The first time, I thought someone was playing a prank on me, by shaking the walls, etc. Then I remembered that I live in a concrete building. Thirty seconds later, an announcement appeared on my screen, saying that there had been a mild underwater quake about 35 km offshore.
Australia does not do earthquakes very well at all - we are not on the rim of fire like our New Zealand cousins. But we are the world's fastest continent (as befits our sporting prowess) and occasionally compressive stresses just have to let go.
In 2021 we had a 5.9. and yeah it woke me up. A couple of miles over an old historic build was damaged. Mostly tremors are more our style.
I have experienced many tremors, not so much real earthquakes. The last one was right here in Australia. No damage was done, but the house shook like crazy.
August 23, 2011 - Was in NC when the 2011 Virginia earthquake happened.
Shook the whole house but no damage minus some things that fell over.
A mild one when I traveling in Central America.
Yes, it was not much of an earthquake but it made the 6 o'clock news. It sort of felt like a big 18 wheeler driving by.
Yes but I didn't notice it. A colleague pointed it out. I suppose it was more a tremor than a quake. We don't really have earthquakes in the UK.
None that have been strong enough for me to ever notice in Texas
In my back yard in the southern Appalachians. It jiggled the ground like a big truck drove by, but no truck. I thought nothing of it until it was in the news.
Yes, the Quake of 89 I was in San Jose; which is just south of San Francisco.
Nope and hope I never have to.
Nope, the Earth didn't move for me too.
Many times here in Southern California
nope... not even some of those little ones
but also, I don't really live at the areas where these things do happen
I've been to Mexico City for a couple of days though... still didn't
A few mild ones.
Yes, yes.
Where were you
NoI have not
No I haven’t.
