814 opinions shared on Other topic. I've only blacked out once. I've been pretty drunk, f.ucked up and sick puking, being emotional and all that. But only ONCE have I lost control to the point of blacking out and having holes in my memory and literally needing other people to kind of babysit and take care of me. I overestimated my tolerance because at one point I could handle 20 shots of whiskey over the course of a night and NOT get sick or be hungover in the morning. But I didn't drink much for a while and my tolerance went down considerably, so I totally overdid it. And I've never let it happen since, lol. That helpless feeling of being out of control and needing to depend on other people scared me 'straight' after that and I keep close tabs on my limits now. I'm used to being the friend who gets f.ucked up drunk but still has enough normality and sense left in me to be the one taking care of my friends when THEY get too messed up and need someone. It's a tough job, but I do it well and I did NOT like being in the opposite position or putting my friends in that position of being the caretaker. I like getting f.ucked up and losing some control, but I always have to maintain some control no matter what I'm messed up on.
Usually when I get drunk now, like I did last night, I cut myself off when I feel any nausea coming on. I go outside to get some fresh air and lay down on the grass/sidewalk if that's what it takes, and usually the nausea goes away without me needing to puke. But even when I do get sick, which I haven't in a long time, I can get it up and feel fine afterward and continue drinking a little bit. But I make sure I stay hydrated and I almost never have a hangover the next day. As long as I have enough water and take a tylenol before I go to bed and get enough sleep, I wake up feeling almost completely normal.01 Reply- +1 y
I hate having to rely on other people to take care of me too but I just can't control my intake for some reason, every time I drink I want to get really drunk and end up going over my limit into blackness. I'm going to really try to control myself from now on though. I hate having to be a burden for someone else when they're trying to have a good time too.
So drinking water throughout the night will help me not be hungover the next day? If so, I'll have to remember to do that and get good sleep

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yAfter 3 years of college drinking, I'm 21 now and finally can control myself. I used to black out literally every time I drank (so I don't even know how many times). As dumb as this sounds, I never saw a problem with it because it's college and everyone is drinking and throwing up and all that stuff too. I realized how bad it was when I found out one morning that the night before, I was confronted by police who wanted to get an ambulance for me, and I had no memory of it! Well my point is, it's not normal or okay to drink so much that you black out. Not only do you get so drunk that you're probably making a fool of yourself, but you can seriously injure yourself. You should really try to drink less. I don't know how many drinks get you to that point but drink a FEW and then wait to see how you feel! Just try to exert some self control.

I try to control myself but I just want to get drunk and I end up taking a lot of quick shots and then I just gradually keep getting drunker until I can't remember anything or too much from the night before.
Opinion Owner+1 ySo then don't do that. :p You'll still get drunk if you drink some, you don't have to have a sh*tload all at once
- +1 y
That's true. I'm going to take my time with shots and keep up with how much I take in.
If you have a black out you should seriously look at your alcohol consumption and make changes. It is not healthy and you are making serious harm to your body.
I personally don't see the fun in drinking. It makes you dizzy and numb and then you feel sick, maybe throw up and then you feel awful for the whole day afterward completely ruining the day after from doing anything.01 Reply- +1 y
I'm definitely going to try to change my drinking habits. I don't ever really feel dizzy since I just get drunk and black out but feeling sh*tty the next day or week is horrible, it makes me never to want to drink again.

You're in my range. I hate not remembering anything and waking up with a head splitting hangover and throwing up a couple of more times the next day. I try to control my intake of alcohol but I always go over my limit.
0. I never take it to the point where I puke/blackout

I don't try to but I gradually drink myself to that point without knowing it.

Don't think I can count.
But when I do get to the point (of wanting to drink a lot and knowing that I might not remember anything) I usually do it with someone I trust (my boyfriend of 6 years). I know I am safe in his company and never worry.02 Reply- +1 y
You're like me, except I'm not with a boyfriend as I'm not into guys. I'm usually with my friends but I always end up throwing up and throwing up the next day from the hangovers too. No way I could drink straight liquor on the rocks, I usually take shots or take shots and then drink mixed drinks.

+1 yNever. Surprisingly I can hold my liquor quite well. I've also never vomited either. However, I do get these really painful migraines the next morning. I become sensitive to any form of light and sound.
01 Reply- +1 y
I don't think it's about holding your liquor, it has to do with how much you drink and how much time in between you give yourself before the next drink. Those are hangovers, hangovers usually result in a headache. My hangovers when I black out are probably some of the sh*ttiest hangovers ever.
+1 yHaha, damn. That's a lot.
I've only blacked out twice, I think.
I got very drunk and then I decided to take as many shots as I can.
Another, I was drunk and high. Not the best combination.01 Reply- +1 y
I know, I can never control myself. :\
I usually just like to take four or five shots and be pretty good drunk wise but I always end up taking more.
I've never been drunk and high at the same time and now I've stopped smoking so I don't think I ever will be.
I love rum, but I have never blacked out. I drink for the taste not to get drunk. I don't enjoy not being myself/ in control of my actions.

I hate the taste of alcohol but I drink to get drunk. That's probably why I end up not remembering anything and not controlling myself. I need to learn to discipline myself like you.
never have never will. I don't drink. I went to a party and had 8 shots (I can only handle 2) and was sick for 2 days straight
03 Reply- +1 y
You didn't black out after 8 shots? One time I drank over a liter of bourbon at the beach and honestly, I was sick for that whole week until I went to the doctor to get nausea medicine.
- +1 y
Were you just throwing up for two days straight or did you just feel really nauseated or what?
I never have. And I don't usually throw up...I've only thrown up once because I hadn't eaten in a while and then I got drunk.
01 Reply- +1 y
I usually only throw up when I drink too much too fast and that's also why I tend to black out a lot. I don't know how to control myself.
yea same her. About 7 or 8 times. I did some insane stuff man -insane

I don't remember what I did while I was blacked out but I'm scared I did something pretty stupid. That's probably how I got herpes.
Just kidding about the herpes. - +1 y
Woah, to think I had it rough. You've had it much worse.

Well thank God for the bleach

You probably punched a wall or something solid.
Once.

Where you worried you had done something crazy or stupid the night before?
- +1 y
I know I always worry if I did anything stupid the night before. You don't want to get a call nine months later from a girl telling you you're a father.
