^obviously they can afford the most expensive surgeon, but does more money mean better results?
nose jobs specifically. My mom is being a beotch and won't pay for me to get mine done, which sucks
There is definitely some correlation of price and quality, but that's only a guideline and a starting point. Figure that a doctor practicing in a big, expensive city (NYC, LA, Miami, SFO, etc.) is going to be more expensive simply due to location, and you may get the same skill and quality for much less by finding a high-volume city with a much lower cost of living (there are definite advantages to living in Texas!).
But you still need to do plenty of research. Find websites that review doctors, and listen to what the patients are saying. If patients aren't happy, they're going to be vocal about it, and if they're happy, they'll be less vocal, but you'll still find reviews that say so.
My own personal rule is that I don't buy/pay for anything over $100 without doing research on it first, and I generally do about an hour of research per $100 of cost, on average. That means $10,000 in cost means 100 hours of research. You might get away with half that much research given the high amount of cost, but you definitely won't regret doing your homework, and if you skip it, you will OFTEN regret not doing your homework. Given that you only have one face to work with, it's easily important enough to do the work before you pick a doctor.
are nose jobs covered by insurance?
they should be >.<
Yeah, typically, the pricier the doctor, the better quality. Doctors who do good work are given more referrals from former clients, which increases the demand for their service. If they have so much demand they cannot accommodate all the potential clients, they can raise their prices. The more referrals, the higher prices, and if they had a celebrity client, that adds a premium to the doctor's brand. Which increases more demand, so the doctor can raise prices even higher.
The nice thing about being a world traveler is that I am aware of other options. South Korea, plastic surgery is a BIG craze. A person can become a celebrity for having a pretty face, so lots of Koreans want to have pretty faces. As a result, they have lots of surgeons, the best as good as any Western doctor, in fact, while the last decade they mostly trained in the West, the last few years, South Korean doctors pioneered new plastic surgery techniques, so the quality is not an issue. But, because of the competition and cost of living index, you can get procedures from top surgeons at around the quarter of the price of the top American doctors.
how do you know when you're paying for quality(with a higher price) as opposed to just paying a higher price for potentially crappy/sh*tty quality?
Due diligence.
Thanks to the internet, we can research any doctor, look for complaints, check them on BBB. Look for outlandish claims, unrealistic before/after pictures.
Also, thoroughly research the procedures you are interested in, so that you know what to realistically expect.
It's definitely more important to look at the surgeon's qualifications and before and after photos of their clients. It sure wouldn't hurt if they had any awards.
But I don't believe those celebrities as your examples really had nose jobs. Their makeup was done more expertly in the after photos and the differences are so slight. I know I don't look exactly the same from day to day depending on a lot of factors: sleep, diet, etc. Some people do get really slight nose jobs that aren't that noticeable, but I can't see that making a person go from being a 3 to a 6.
Just something to consider: maybe celebrities get better nose jobs done because the surgeon knows he/she will be under particular fire if it goes wrong. Doesn't necessarily have something to do with the cost.
I'd say look into the surgeons reputation.
A girl.at my school has the worst boob job I've ever seen,I feel sorry for her.i'm going to assume she got the bargain basement deal. If you're getting anything done, especially for it to be on your face, you should spend the extra money

not always.
sure, more practice (more operations) + better results = highest price. that doesn't mean you can't find some surgeon who charges well above average with subpar/average experience/results.
in plastic surgery what counts is really a mouth to mouth recommendation and one on one examination. I got myself a few fixes on my nose a few years back, and before doing that I talked to quite a few people about their experience and checked the results by myself. I ended up paying almost 29k for a work that most surgeons would charge around 11-12k. but... it was worth it.
Lmao, make your own money to afford your own surgeries? But anyways, I think that's just with anything materialistic in life. Any person or desginer that holds a name with a high reputation is bound to cost more because of quality but again popularity versus your boutique store.
Well there HAVE been incompetents who have charged high fees before...Right? Please don't tell me your poor nose needs fixing too? O.O
why do you think I'm asking this? I obviously want a nose job
it's not about that and I don't need anyones approval or blessing
I am eavesdropping on your convo with MrOracle...usually has to be either "preventative" or "necessary" depends, therefore, if you have a fraudulent doctor...like those ones in Hollywood? What is it that you do not like about your nose...in my experience, it is usually the "hooknose" and I will have to agree..I frankly do not find them to be attractive...eh idk..maybe some men do?
o.O
I don't want a hook nose lmao
I think hollywood tends to like hook noses because it's made some people like Jennifer Grey and Karolina Kurkova famous, but for the average persona hook nose is unattractive
Few people find hook noses ideal, but it's not like people with hook noses die off old and alone.
it's not about you
you can have all the say you want in your life decisions, but my life decisions reflect my desires and no one elses
all plastic surgery products are dangerous. if you can afford the expensive ones, then you must be able to afford expensive natural ways to improve beauty.
no, just because a product is expensive doesn't always mean it's something of high quality.
