What does it mean when people who like me call me lame?

On multiple occasions, I have been called "lame" by those that I know like me. I know that the term is usually meant as an insult. However, I have strong intuitions when it comes to getting a sense of which people like and dislike me and which people are good and bad. Furthermore, I can tell that when such people have called me lame, while the traits they described were not necessarily "positive," was not meant in a disparaging way. What does it mean when people call a person they like and enjoy hanging out with "lame?"

Perhaps, you are doing things which are unmanly, and your actions are really lame that it's getting annoying so they voice them out.

I think it's just a remark and they don't take say it in a very personal way. Just something they tell so you can work yourself out.
