VERY few guys will notice though, if they do notice, even fewer will care unless it's a horrid color. I'd take a girl's nails painted or unpainted, it's no matter to me. I do sometimes notice though, when I do, I don't have an opinion about them one way or another. I don't have a favorite color but, if her nails have designs on them, it will prompt me to comment on them. Example: One of my female friends had her nails pained with classic 'Batman' fighting words such as "BAM!" and "POW!". Another friend had a zebra-like pattern painted on her nails.
As a guy, my top 5 favourite nail polish colours on girls are:
White, red, grey, sky blue, navy blue.
Some honourable mentions go to candy pink, black, coral, nude, lavender and dark brown.
Please no greens, yellows, oranges, neon colours, nail art/french manicures or acrylic nails.
So funny you asked this, because I wondered this too. I read in a magazine that guts Gaye chipped nail polish (makes sense, because I think everyone hates chipped polish), but otherwise I don't listen to fashion magazine tips.
I haven't gotten negative feedback from my nail colors as far as I can remember. I sometimes wear this bright neon traffic-cone orange by ORLY and I got compliments on it from the male customers at work. But orange works on me because my skin tone is "warm." I won't dare try navy, jet black or gunmetal.

I have a color he likes it's called Haute Shine by sinful colors he calls it power ranger pink because it's about the color of Kimberly's outfit in the new Power Rangers movie that came out here recently. And his favorite color is red so he likes it when I wear red too.

Short clean nails look the best. If they are polished then a solid is classiest. No patterns, glittery stuff, or different colored nails... The colors that I like the most are generally pastels or some sort though I can't claim to actually know what the colors are called. lol Shades of pink, purple and/or blue seem to work well.

An important thing to add is the thing that makes it shine or appear kind of liquidy rather than dry. Oh, and avoid colors like gray, brown, light blue, and orange. I don't think those look any good.

I know I'm the odd one out, I watch nail art videos when they come up on Facebook cause I think it's really cool. I can't say that there is ONE color I like since I think it looks coolest with patterns or designs but if I have to pick one it'd be Purple or Green I think.
All we see is that you're not satisfied with your own natural appearance and like to waste money on materials rather than boost your own confidence on a personable level.
Women see things and recognize it. We're too busy looking for any signal of interest or desire, such as a look, or words.
Most guys won't notice any details on your nails. The only exceptions are if the nails are overdone (several colors, patterns, drawings), and really ugly (too long, dirty, cracked, not taken care of). That would turn guys off. So, just keep them clean, not too long, and no guys will be turned off by them.
I personally like dark colors because they look classy and can go with anything and I like to hold on to one color for 2weeks..don't want to keep on changing..and yeah it's more convenient..at the moment I have a dark shade of green..like Christmas tree green

i dont mind at all. sometimes it does seem like its a good thing that the person is neat enough to have perfectly intact nail polish. but i would actually preffer black one, just because i remember a friend who bought one that was actually for protecting, it had the black color, and she was using it because her nails used to chip easily (and painfuly). guess that stuck to me.
I don't know about other guys but me personally... I like something bright (dark pink, purple, blue, sky blue etc.) ... I also love black... And ya most guys, including me, as far as i know, are not very fond of super long nails... 1-2mm less than the pic give would be great...
I paint my nails all the time. I usually go for the girly colors like pink and purple. On the odd time I go for blue. Everytime I paint my nails blue I get a compliment from my boyfriend or guy at work, or even a random stranger. So odd, i thought guys didn't even notice that shit.
I've always been a fan of the blank colour.

Clear, is the best colour all around.
Though depending on the season, different colours
inhabits complimentary effects to the surroundings as well.
Spring and summer calls out to yellow and green
while fall and winter calls out to green, orange, blue and purple.
But there's much more in it, than just that
like if a certain colour suits your skintone
and your overall style/vibe.
The best thing to do, is to find your own style
and go with/hold on to that. ^.^
I'll only notice if the girl sticks out. It depends on the walls inside the building honestly. So if I'm in a building with dark blue walls I will notice brighter colors. It really doesn't matter to me though. I just consider it a typical girlie preparation for leaving the house.
They don't care at all about nail color, they will not notice if you change it drastically. They will however notice if your nails are way too long or if your nails look like a bit too much effort (rhinestones, drawings etc.). So if your nails are regular, they won't notice, I guarantee it.
The one color that turns me completely on and more is O.P.I.'s Lincoln Park After Dark. Plus, let me say that I have a major major fetish for pretty hands, nails, feet and toes. Yes! Guilty as charged !
On girls with a fairer skin tone, OPI's LP after dark makes me crazy. It is sexy as hell specially if the girl has nice hands and feet because I have a major thing for pretty hands and feet.
In light of what you aee a lot these days, pastel colors look nice but I am sure that fashion will go away eventually.
About not so fair akin tone... Hmmmm... Anything that goes well with the attire.
I find colored nails attractive because its very girlie and I am attracted to the girlie girl style.
I like darks as well as pastel colors and funky nail art like flowers. :)
My opinion is the best make-up jobs on girls are the ones that go almost unnoticed. As long as the color doesn't distract from the look I say you're good no matter what you do. Think of it as your appearance is a painting and your make up is the frame. A nice frame is a great compliment, but the frame can't distract from the art. I hope that makes sense.
