In what ways can shyness be sexy?

I was having a discussion with my friends today and we started talking about dating and relationships and what things we find attractive in the opposite gender. One of the girls mentioned that "a little shyness is sexy". Of course, this was her personal opinion as not all the girls agreed with her.

Girls, if this is true, in what ways can a little shyness be sexy?

There's one way, if guys can twist their shyness to make themselves seem mysterious. Some guys stand like they're too cool for a woman, but secretly they're afraid to approach her. However, they are partially open to her when they interact. That's sexy. They don't spill everything to her, making themselves seem mysterious.

To be sexy you need to project an image of being a sexual being. Shy guys can never accomplish this because they're too shy.

That's what I assumed too. But apparently according to this girl if a guy is a little shy she finds it sexy. I can see why being too shy is not sexy. Actually, I came across a question on this site the other day and the girls were actually saying a shy guy can be really sexy. It confuses me.
