No contact for11 days since breakup.........

Boyfriend and I broke up about 11 days ago. I was saying things about being upset, he was getting annoyed. Said we were both unhappy, and broke up with me. We talked for a few hours. He seemed to regret saying it at first, it got late, and he was being a jerk at the end, saying it was the End. I tell him I have to go, and he says "we'll talk later"...what does that mean. You just broke up with me. He said in the conversation that we would talk in a few days to see how we're feeling, but then turns into a jerk. It's so back and forth. Leaves me so confused.

We were together a little over a year. He was really serious about me, talked about proposing. Haven't heard from him, and I cannot initiate contact as I want him to come to the realization that "HE" did this. I love this guy, and I felt he loved me, but we were arguing so much at the end.

Wondering how long do people normally go without communicated until they finally initiate communication.
