My boyfriend didn't get me anything for my birthday. Should I even say anything or just let it go?

Weeks before my birthday my boyfriend asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I said I don't know what I want so whenever he sees something I hate he would joke around and be like ill get you that for your birthday and then one day we went to the mall just to look and he said do you want me to take you shopping on your birthday? And I said yes! :) but 2 days before my birthday my boyfriend took me out to dinner and we stayed at a hotel that night. Don't get me wrong I'm thankful for it and I don't wanna sound ungrateful but on my birthday he didn't get me anything no card, nothing. I was upset Because he got my hopes up that he'd get me something but then he didn't. I know y'all would think *he took you to dinner that should be enough* but it was my birthday I just wanted to feel special I mean we could go to dinner anytime and get a hotel. I just expected something that we won't normally do on a regular day. I'm not saying that I want him to take me on a shopping spree I just wanted something from him, a card would have been great! My birthday is a week ago. He also told me recently that it's my turn to get a hotel. Like this whole situation wouldn't have bothered me so much if he didn't say that. Because that would mean that he got a hotel like it's just a regular day and now it's my turn. I don't know how to talk to him about this. It bothers me so much! We've been together for almost a year and he's NEVER done anything to make me special. Should I even say anything? Am I just being ungrateful?

Should let it go, don't inform him don't act as though it bothers you let some time go by tell him when your birthday is and let him bring it up basically your bring him to a point where hell think wow that just went by that date I didn't get you a present so rather then accuse him of forgetting and hurting his feelings causing hurt for both of you you'll just be doing it in a way that's caring and loving reminding him in a settle way is way more healthier for both of you good luck to you guys! BTW if he doesn't take the qua from you I'd dump him no ones that unaware because then it would mean he isn't showing you love through his actions unless he's broke and can't afford a present to give you if that's the case don't try what I said it's then your decision do you want someone who can afford to provide for you!? At that point it's not about the present anymore but if you can deal with his lack of money don't know your complete situation so I'm assuming allot of different situations and scenarios!

You're not wrong here. Does sound to me like he built up the suspense without following through. Anyone would be like: "sup with that maaaaaaaaaan?"

You have every right to feel disappointment. What he did was just plain rude, mean even. A card and a few sentimental words can go a long way. I'm sure you just wanted to be shown how much he cares.

And boy did he ever accomplish that!

Sounds like he is not really being grateful tbh. I don't think a card is necessary but some kind of a gift if you've been together for a while is expected. Most guys will start to do less things as the relationship goes on, imagine if you are together for 5 years or something... he probably wouldn't take you out to the hotel, maybe to dinner or something only
