ok hold up... THIS IS NOTTTTT MY OPINION lol! like JUSTTT so we making this clear... its a quote I saw on google once and it just yelled out "la la laaaa CONTROVERSYYYYY!" at me ha ha so I thought id ask y'all what you could make of it. :)

lets all b nice here OK and not turn this into a grade 6 game of 'girls vs boys- who's better' lol. I'm genuinely interested if there are girls who disagree with their part of the statement and guys who agree with their bit. anyways let me know:) thanks=]

Well I know from experience with an ex that this quote can very easily be reversed... I gave everything in that 'relationship' and got nothing in return! lol So I guess it just depends on the individual, their personality and their upbringing, whether they be male or female.

There may be a little general truth in it, in that girls are often more sensitive, emotional and romantic than guys, so I could imagine that perhaps slightly more often than not the girl may give and forgive more easily than guys, whereas guys may take and not always think to reciprocate, but I think this is a very specific quote and is in no way representative of the population as a whole! lol

This quote sounds like the opinion of one particular woman who has had to endure any number of unfortunate experiences with guys... I do not feel there is any truth in it when you apply it to the population as a whole. I hope that all makes sense! lol

don't agree. seems absurd. essentially it says all guys don't give a crap about their partner and all girls give unconditionally. I can say from experience that this is simply not true.

probably written by a scorned woman projecting her own experiences upon all of society ... I get maybe why the writer may feel the way she does but obviously she is wrong

i think you can find examples of "get and forget" or "give and forgive" in both genders

generalizations come about because some people find it easier to understand people by making generalizations. mostly it's just laziness. Like some women will presume all men only want sex, some men will presume that all women are gold diggers. It's both lazy assumption and a security measure to help them rationalize the behavior of people.

I think it depends on both genders Anna.

For starters guys give & forgive too because they are in love with the woman they are with yet that woman could be conniving and use it to her advantage - women get and forget too

Women give and forgive and men get and forget - that's true many women give everything up for a man - yet he leaves her, cheats on her, marries her only for her money

so imo its both genders and depends on the person you're with - their personality, mindset etc

Generally the one who can get and forget is whoever is less invested in the relationship. This is usually whoever would have more or better options if the relationship were to breakdown. Most women have very high standards and the few men who meet these standards have many options, as a result I'd say the statement is true for the most part. If women were to lower their expectations its likely the reverse would be true.

it doesn't depend on the gender. it depends on the person and their personality, who give, forgive, get and forget. and it isn't always give with the forgiving person and get and forgetting person

While I have seen this quote happen before, in most cases it seems to any sex. I've seen guys give and forgive. with girls getting and forgetting about as much as the other way around.

Agreed a woman is made by nature to be that way and also publicized for eons as one i.e. more forgiving, more perseverance etc but I'd say it's an individual thing.

If you go with a ratio then yes probably there are more women and guys who go the way you've mentioned though there may not be a confirmed statistical analysis of this ever.

In my case both my MIL and separated wife haven't been really forgiving or forgetful, while I have - here's one exception ;)

Males and females can both be giving or selfish, forgiving and not forgiving. Men take a while to mature so it may appear that men are more insensitive.
