Personality vs. Looks

I mean I've heard a lot of people say personality is more important than looks and/or "looks fade" but a person's personality changes as much as looks do as it develops overtime. Also, I think a person would still feel similar feelings towards both there looks and personality as they get older (as opposed to thinking that they were no longer physically attractive but still had an attractive personality). Then again, I'm 17 so I probably don't know what I'm talking about.

At least for me, I wouldn't like the idea of a girl being with me and telling me that she likes me mainly because of my personality because (although that's good) it's implying that she thinks that my looks are lacking.

I feel like some people say that personaliy is more important because it's the socially acceptable thing to say otherwise you'll be accused of being called 'shallow' or 'superficial whereas there is no derogative word (that I know of) to call those who focus on personality over looks.

However, I realise I am still young and don't really know all there is to know about love and relationships so I can appriciate if I am in fact too inexperienced to be finding issue with this but I have always felt looks and personality were equally important.
