Hope for them who have unrequited love?

What if we have that unrequited love a.k.a one-sided love? Either that person didn't love us back or he/she has taken by someone else. What can we do about it?

Based on my experience so far, here's what I got :

BE PATIENT

Learn to just be patient with the fact that they're taken.
One thing you can do for sure is JUST tell them that you want to make them feel happy and you'll support their relationship.

And then, WAIT...

You can test your love feeling for them too on this phase.
Do you still love them enough to wait for them?
Is he/she really the one for you or there's somebody else that can take your heart away from them?

In case he/she finally back to single, BE THEIR FRIEND.
It's okay just being friends for the start. Be a good friend for them.
Try to find out him/her favorites without make them uncomfortable.
Try to share your life story and listen to them carefully when they share their story too.
Share your thoughts together about issues around you.
Increase small talk with them and make jokes with them.

And then, this is the hardest part but if you really crazy for them, I hope you finally can do this.
SUPPORT THEM when they talk about their dream guy/girl, but be there for them too everytime they needs you.
Sometimes they just simply need someone to talk to and listen to their problems.
Everyone need someone to lean on and a shoulder to cry on.

In time, THEY'LL FIND OUT about your care for them.
And maybe they could finally return your feelings as much as you give to them.
But if they're not, BE PROUD of YOURSELF.
You already made a BEST FRIEND for the rest of your life even before you realized it.

I'm like this for more than a year. I can wait and I don't mind being a just friend forever. Just want to see her happy. Once you get emotionally attached, it's hard to let go.
I was very sad when I realised that I was too late to express my feelings and she's got someone else. We grew apart. Now we are close once again and funny thing is, I'm not sad any more. I'm very happy knowing that she's happy.

So hopelessly wait and remain single waiting for something that has a low probability of happening. If your lucky you'll have a constant reminder of foolishness in getting to pine over your friend for years and years to come. That is what I took from this take.

One should always know when not to cross the line over from patience to plain insanity - the definition of which is doing something over and over expecting different results in this case.. waiting.

I didn't think of "expecting different results" thought before you said it.
Hmm. I mean it's better to make "a friend" than "someone you hate" JUST BECAUSE you have that one-sided love. It'll be different if he/she made use of you before though.
I wrote it with that thought in mind.

This take is more for them who :
1. Can't forget them who JUST didn't return your love as much because they just want to be friends with you and finally they love someone else.
2. Being secret admirer and afraid to confess their love (whatever the reason)
3. Afraid to be in relationship (also for any reason)

Those are my target. I don't know if there's any suitable target more.
