There is a big difference between being friend zoned and he/she just not being into you.

Being friend zoned involves being put off as being a brother/sister whilst they continue to look for their ideal partner who is a mirror image of yourself. Bonus points if he/she comaplins about this person to you and how they wish all boys/girls were more like you.

This is completely different from them just not being interested. People have types and because you aren't theirs doesn't mean you've been friendzoned. This is completely normal and is a part of life. Not everyone is into you. Accept this fact and move on with your life.

There are a lot of definitions of the friend zone dude.
I'd personally put it as the other party thinking that you're fun to hang out with, but is not physically or romantically attracted to you.
If its a person you won't even be associated with if it a romantic relationship doesn't start, THEN they're not friend zoning you, they just aren't interested.
The friend zone isn't predicated on them not liking you romantically in spite of you being their type, just them not liking you romantically in general while wanting to be friends with you.

I believe the friend zone only exists in one situation. You are romantically attracted to someone. That person knows and keeps you around as a friend knowing the situation you are in. If you choose to still be friends and she doesn't ask for that friendship she is in no way friend zoning you. Also if she doesn't know you like she obviously isn't either. I myself have only truly been friend zoned once. The other times were me either being to afraid to say how I felt or me pursuing the friendship.

Being friendzoned is a stupid concept.
People use it because they espect the girl to fall in love with him only because he passed time with her. Then they could say to everybody that life is sooooo unfair and they are victim of circumstance because otherwise, she would TOTALLY be with him. To say such a thing about a girl is a lazy behavior. It's used by those who like to complain. Generally, they are the "why girl like badboy and not goodboy because i'm soo gentle" type.

I honestly don't see the difference. Friendzone is often times a nice way of saying "I'm not actually into you, but you're someone to talk to until I find someone I actually want."

It's not to say you can't have friends of the opposite sex (if you're heterosexual). It's just that there's a difference in being genuine friends with someone and someone just keeping you as a holding cell but really don't want much to do with you.

When people say this to mean, "She just manipulated me (and it's usually a guy talking about a woman)" then I think they're almost always wrong. Most people don't reject someone and say they want to be friends to manipulate a guy. They say so because they aren't attracted to that guy, physically or emotionally.

However, I don't believe most people who use the term "friendzone" mean it that way. I think they mean it in the sense that they are disappointed and sad that this person has rejected them.
