My Everything

You are the this to my that

And the white to my black

You're the right to my wrong

And the music to my song

You are the high to my low

And the up to my down

You were there before I got lost

And now that I'm found

You're the ink to my pen

The paper in my pad

The hand in my glove

The good to my bad

You are the first to my last

And the best to my worst

You're the hook to my track

And my very first verse

You are the RN to my B

And the hip to my hop

You're the neo to my soul

And the punk to my rock

You are the rich to my poor

And the bee to my hive

The honey in my tea

And the high to my five

You are the rock to my band

And the hero to my guitar

You're the prince to my princess

And the near to my far

You are the cross to my T

And the dot to my I

The early to my late

The hello to my goodbye

You are the dimple in my smile

And the hug to my kiss

The worth to my while

And the one that I miss

You are the milk in my cereal

And the finish to my start

You're the Bert to my Ernie

And the beat to my heart

You are the reason for my excuse

And the weak to my strong

You're the give to my take

And the short to my long

You're the win to my loss

And the always to my never

The plus to my minus

And the worse to my better

You're the thoughts on my mind

And the song that I sing

You are the all to my nothing

You are my everything

I recently found one of my old poem books from almost 8 years ago. Man, talk about a trip down memory lane lol. I originally wrote this piece for a coffeehouse around Valentine's Day. I didn't have a Valentine that year either so I wrote this with my friends in mind. They were my inspiration. For example, the part about the music genres was about my best friend and our love of music. The part about guitar hero was for my friend that introduced me to the game. I didn't sulk that year about not having a significant other. I chose to appreciate my friends. Hope you guys enjoy.

Very nice take - I wrote loads and loads when I was in my teens and early 20s but I threw it all out (can't remember why) maybe wanted to reinvent myself move on from the past - It didn't work, it took nearly 20 years to come terms with my demons and I wished I had kept my musings.
Yours is a lovely interpretation of friendship in your poem - A nice thought that can include singles as well as those in relationships
