Reasons why people cheat

Don’t get me wrong cheating is scummy there is no excuse this is just possible insight as to why people cheat. I’ve covered before the signs someone’s cheating but these are more of reasons why people do it rather then signs. You can also not stop a cheater from cheating on you or anyone else, someone who has it in them to cheat will probably cheat at some point no matter what you do. It’s who they are and what they are as well as some of these things are unavoidable. Such as novelty and opportunity.

Emotional Disconnect

This is a pretty common reason when people feel emotionally disconnected from somebody. Maybe they don’t feel like they have a emotional connection, their emotional needs aren’t being met, and they start seeking that outside the relationship. It’s sad but it happens more commonly then many people would think. On the romantic as well as emotional side of things

Physical Needs

This happens when someone doesn’t feel fulfilled by their sexual aspect of the relationship maybe it’s because they aren’t getting their needs met, the sex gets boring, as well as someone has boundaries that they can’t cross. This is as common in women as it is in men when people feel unfulfilled in the bedroom they will start to seek it from other people.

Desire for Novelty

They want something and someone new. Unfortunately this is one of those things someone can’t really control. They get bored of the same old life, the same person every day as well as every night, and they want someone as well as something new. It’s the excitement of even indulging in a different life. Being with someone who lives a different lifestyle, a different personality, for someone older it may be their wisdom as well as their life experience, if they’re with someone younger they make them feel young again as well as may be more fun in the bedroom. It’s novelty. It’s new and it’s exciting.

Opportunity

This is the most common reason for cheating is that a opportunity presented itself at the right place and right time. Even if they are happy in their relationship they just fell and gave into temptation. It may have been completely impulsive.
Low Commitment

In relationships that have low commitment either because they’re new or neither person really has long term plans. Someone may not see it as wrong to cheat on someone even if it still is if you’re technically committed to one another. Just remember if things get more serious they will probably do it again.

Revenge or Retaliation

Some people just can’t be the bigger person as well as use it as a excuse. But many people cheat as a means to get back at someone maybe for cheating or allegedly cheating on them or something different. They want to make their partner jealous as well as inflict emotional pain. Especially if they cheat with someone close to their partner such as a friend, family member, etc.

Insecurity

They are insecure about themselves and/or the relationship may cheat to make themselves feel more valuable. Sounds weird but it validates their worth and attractiveness if people are having sex with them as well as giving emotional involvement. Maybe they feel as if their partner makes them feel insecure so they want to validate themselves using external sources.

Stress or Life Changes

Sometimes life changes such as changes in jobs, traumatic events, moving, family issues, loosing people close to them, even settling down to start a family. Someone may start to change as well as grow apart form someone. Someone may start to figure out that they want something different and what they wanted before isn’t what they want now. So they may start to seek someone else.

Substance Abuse

Drug and alcohol abuse can and does for many people impair peoples decision making, causing people to act on impulses and leading people to make poor choices.
Different Values

. One being what one person considers cheating someone else may not consider cheating. Such as someone may not think “talking” to someone sexually or flirting with other people is cheating. Some people. Different ideas of what cheating is can lead to someone cheating without realizing (or not caring) that they are cheating.

Lack of Compatibility

This one is pretty major as well when people have different values, different boundaries, different things they are looking for. They may seek those things outside the relationship. If someone won’t do a certain sex act in the bedroom they may find someone who will. If someone is wanting different relationship roles they may find someone who fulfills what they’re wanting. If they are wanting a different kind of person entirely they may seek those types of people out.

Thrill-Seeking Personality

There are certain kinds of individuals who are thrill seekers. They engage in risky behaviors including cheating and having affairs. Part of the thrill is knowing that they could get caught that’s all part of the game for them. Is that it’s risky as well as fun.

Eh I may. Nothing guaranteed. Your article here is pretty thorough already. I would’ve made mine more simplified but this extensive list helps others to have more knowledge in their tool kit when braving intimate relationships. I think those who come across it will do better if they consider what’s been listed here. Thanks though. 🤝💯
