(THIS IS PETER) i have been in a relationship where i was cheated on. IT IS NOT OK!!! if you build someone up. one your "love" for them then tear them down by cheating on them. it is the cruelest thing you could do. people have walls for a reason. if you break those walls down saying "i'll never hurt you" "you can trust me" then the break them in the way that those walls were built for. it is one of the worst feeling someone could go through in my opinion. you should be ashamed of yourself.

There's nothing ridiculous about any of this. 72% of men cheat, 70% of women. Why be ashamed of our behavior? Just embrace it and bring it out into the open. Everyone consumes some form of erotica, whether it's p*rn or novels, everyone masturbates. The next thing to socially accept is cheating, since it IS the cultural norm. Why deny it?

because I'd rather not be the person responsible for breaking someone's heart no thank you I'm good. cheating wouldn't happen more than likely if people just talked and communicated what they are needing from the other person, and being more receptive instead of being defensive when the person tries to tell them that they aren't giving them enough attention for example.

It's been fine so far. I've no doubt I'm being cheated on too. But why get upset about it? It's our natural behavior. It's like getting angry at a dog for going the bathroom on the rug. 1) You become stranded on an island for the rest of your life.
2) The only people with you are a few monogamous married couples.

There's nothing really wrong with it as long as you and your partner are aware of what's going on. All the concepts you list are true, but people that are not in that mindset for the most part.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're talking about a universal acceptance of polyamory/free love without regard to/destruction of the societally developed ego, which had its place in the 1960s and other times in history but will most likely never gain universal acceptance in capitalistic, modern technological society because of the importance of legal unions (marriage) and generations of psychological shaming from other institutions.
