My boyfriend and I love to insult each other?

So unlike other couples who say "I love you all the time we always say "I hate you" and he will be like "I hate you too" and we kiss. Whenever I do something wrong he will be like "Well the word "dumb" is invented for you". And I remember everything he said wrong and bring it up all the time to tease him. We love each other but always like to be mean to each other. Is it normal? Does anyone have a relationship like this and always insult each other (in a teasing way of course? Is this relationship healthy? Thanks.

It's not about what you say to each other, but the foundations of your relationship. It sounds like you feel secure and respected enough, and you shared a similar sense of humour. I had a relationship with a guy who used vicious insults as humour, which i see now but didn't at the time. I have a dark sense of humour myself, but because we had only been dating for a few weeks at the time, i felt insulted. He did not understand me well enough or know enough about my past to have earned the right to do that. However, if i've been with someone for a while, I have their trust and they have mine, and we have shared history, then i say sure.
At the end of the day though, as long as you both are happy with it, go for it. iThe "I Hate You" exchange actually is very common among couples I've known, and i've done it in my own relationships.

I do that with my SO. We also bring up really horrible past experience by making jokes. For example she accidentally gave me an STD when we got back together years ago. Now whenever the word burning comes up we both know there's no hard feelings. It's actually pretty healthy and fun. We're also interracial. Yeah the racists jokes get pretty edgy sometimes but hey I love that girl. She has to fight to get compliments out of me. As long as you guys can step back from the jokes and have some real close conversations at times it's all good and healthy

All that means is that you either don't know yet (or are skillfully avoiding) areas which will actually hurt.

I remember thinking that I could insult a girlfriend back in my teenage years, and she'd just laugh and insult me back. Until one time I said she sounded like a Pakistani. And boom, it was like a bomb going off. Oh, she didn't like that one tiny little bit.
