He jokes about breaking up. does that mean he's thinking about it?

Question

Me and my boyfriend have a great relationship. I do have my own emotional problems from having a pretty rough life, but I'm working on not being guarded from it. Despite that, we're very emotionally connected, we play and joke, don't have fights, and we spend a good amount of time together. He wants us to move in together in a couple months and mentions getting married. But sometimes he jokes about breaking up, like me leaving him for someone else or last night he said, "if we broke up and stayed friends, I'd be disappointed to learn if you ended up dating any of your roommates since they're doing nothing with their lives." One of my roommates is really attracted to me so I'm sure he's aiming towards that guy. But still, that's an oddly specific thing to say...

Should this concern me? Should I bring it up to him?

he is surely is thinking about it , but i wonder why choosing a break up as a mockery joke? he either made a bad joke to make you laugh or that he just brought up things out of blue because he had nothing to talk about it , you should open a small discussion about it if its something that is not serious , i can't tell specifically but if your bf does know that your roommate has a small crush on you then he might be trying to threaten in not breaking up as if he is trying to say " our relationship is better if you try dating someone else i think we will both be disappointed " but i really can't tell if its something that is trying to imply i mean it could be some corny joke or on the other hand its just a small talk , but im sure behind those words he doesn't really want to leave you but at the same time he is worried about the break up from either himself or from you hope this helps.

He might be the jealous type... So he is just stating what would it be if you left him for your roommate. He might be afraid you left him, so he is just letting you know how would you end up and he said "If we broke up and stayed friends" so he is definitely saying he wouldn't want to be 'only' friends.

if a guy jokes about breaking up I think that's just sketchy unless both partners know how to take a joke like that and are used to it.

If it concerns u then bring it up to him. Ask yourself if it really concerns you. It sounds like it does since you're asking this question.

I'd say leave it be personally, but i don't really know. I don't think its a big deal. He sounds like the jealous type
