We were out for dinner I was waiting at the bar for him when a guy apprached. My boyfriend showed up right about the same time so I told the other guy we were dating.
And he said "well too bad for me, but you're an indecently lucky guy, your girlfriend is beautiful" and my boyfriend responded with "No she's not! now get lost"

What am I supposed to think of that? He said he didn't mean it like that but how is his first response to someone say I'm pretty "No she's not!"

Your boyfriend heard you telling him that you were dating him so he had nothing to worry about in that way. And the other guy admitted there was nothing there for him by saying "well too bad for me", then complimented your looks and his good fortune to be with you. That was perfectly proper and respectful, and your guy has some issues to go off like that. His response should have been "Thank you, I believe I am a very lucky guy." And that would have ended it on a happy note for all.

Nonono, relax. He was probably jealous and just said that to make the other guy realise that you were 'nothing' to that guy and he had to get you out of his mind. I would do the same thing, just be like: "No she's not. She's not pretty, she's not funny, she's not adorable. She's not even a woman. Actually she doesn't even exist.. Now f*ck off."

No, I mean. Maybe a little. It would depend on the situation. If I saw someone talking to my girlfriend and then I walked up and he said "I didn't know she had a boyfriend, excuse me bro, have a nice evening" then that would be cool. But when a guy tells another guy that his girlfriend is pretty in front of her, then I would feel like he was still flirting with her through me, which would piss me off. So I don't know, depends on the situation..

It seems kinda strange and wrong of him to say that but I think some of these answers are spot on. It's him saying, "back off," in somewhat of a... "twisted" way.

What he's really probably saying... the other guy comes up all, "hey, I think you're pretty," and your boyfriend is basically saying to him, "no you don't, get away."

Just talk to him about it... I don't think it's as big of a deal as it sounds to be on the surface.
