My boyfriend always calls me names when we fight?

We have been dating for a year and a half. Recently we have been fighting almost everyday. It's always over small things and he gets worked up and calls me names like stupid dumb psychopath etc. Sometimes he yells two inches from my face and it scares me. I told him it's OK to get angry but he doesn't have to call me names. I told him it hurts me everytime he calls me names and he said it is hard for him not to and that sometimes I make him get so mad that the names just come out. I could handle it if it was once in a while but he does it everyday now. It's gotten to the point where he doesn't apologize and he forgets half the time he calls me names. I love him with all my heart and I don't want to break up but I can't be put down every time we get into an argument. I don't know what to do.

1. When you fight every day over little things that don't really matter, it usually means that there is a deeper, larger issue that you are both ignoring.

2. Calling you names shows a lack of respect for you and the three essential ingredients for a successful long term relationship are love, trust, and respect.

3. He says he can't help it. He needs to take responsibility for his actions. I'll bet that he doesn't call his boss names when he gets mad at work!

4. The lack of apology also suggests a lack of respect.

You may need to get some couples counselling to deal with the real issue. If he is not willing to do that, his refusal is the handwriting on the wall.

Get out before it becomes hitting. If you feel uncomfortable leave don't stay because its familiar to you. you allow a man to do what he can do to you by allowing him to disrespect you. If you don't want to be treated wrong leave otherwise keep letting him disrespect you. And your young don't settle ever he is giving you red flags don't ignore them.
