Boyfriend wants me to LOSE WEIGHT?

So a few months back I said I was going to lose weight for personal reasons to get my body back. But all of a sudden my boyfriend wants me to lose the weight soon as he's seen pictures of how I used to look. I want to know how does it make a man/grown boy feel when his girlfriend is chunky, not fat just chunky#?
Why would he insist on me losing the weight?

Some guys (and women), looks matter much more than others. My view is if you care about the person then it's not important but others look at it from a health point of view (so they say anyway, I think it's more they find it unattractive but? maybe some truth to it also). I've never had a girlfriend before that her appearance changed that much so I'm only going on how I think.
