I can't speak for marriage.
For serious relationships before marriage, however, I can! As a whole, the relationship should not be difficult. The majority of the time you spend together should make you feel stress free (or less stressed out than normal), happy, and and safe.
Generally speaking, relationships will have their ups and downs but like I said overall should be easy. Fights are normal and healthy, but not too often. If you are having an argument/fight every week, that isn't a healthy relationship. My boyfriend and I have had like 2 or 3 fights since we got together 6 months ago, and many "talks" about things we feel uneasy about. For example, one time it bothered me that he was joking about me enticing guys and breaking their hearts. I know it was just him trying to drive home his point saying I'm beautiful, but I didn't like him joking about me not being completely faithful. So I told him it bothered me and he agreed to stop joking about it. This isn't what I would call a fight but rather having a quick discussion about how to improve our relationship.
In conclusion, when two people commit to each other, parts of the relationship will be hard work. But when you get to a difficult spot, you shouldn't just give up because working through the kinks will result in a much more fulfilling and happy relationship. It's when you begin feeling like for a long time the relationship has been hard work without improvement that you have found the wrong person.
I think relationships need constant effot. Two people sometimes have to " fight" for the relationship to survive , because sometimes
a couple faces obstacles and challenges which could drive them apart. If they don't make the effort to get through difficult times , the relationship will fail.
I think it's unrealistic to expect a relationship to not face bad times. It doesn't mean you're with the wrong person though.
I'd use hard times as an opportunity to show the strength of my love and loyalty to him.
Loving someone is easy, making it work long term is hard.
What I mean is that you can love someone no problem l, by keeping a relationship going takes constant work because life mingles with it. Your jobs, your trials, your first home, personal issues - it all comes to a head in relationships. Loving someone a lot won't pay the bills and fix every issue you two run into, devotion and hard work will. So no, I don't believe there is a totally effortless relationship that's real.
Of course both people in the relationship have to both work at it, but If you are with are the right person then it's a whole lot easier that's for sure
Thank you so much for the HMO. <3
True. Relationships shouldn't have you struggling to keep the connection. Think of it this way, you're in a building and your cell signal is giving you trouble. You're trying all sorts of things to keep the connection but once you slightly move it breaks off again. You're gonna sit in that building and keep trying? No. You get your ass up and you leave that building, that's what you do.
Keep in mind that hard work is not to be confused with effort. All relationships (or relationsubmarines) require effort to stay alive.
That was deep. So r u saying ur relationship keeps ur hotline blinging?
I believe that a relationship shouldn't be easy. If there is no hard work then something is not right. But the thing about a good relationship is that both parties should be willing to put in the hard work - it should not feel like they are forced to do so.

I think that is an excellent way of looking at and I agree 1000% (yes, thousand.) The better the match the easier it is. I have always thought this. I do believe anyone and can date anyone. It just depends how much work you put into it. It doesn't mean you are dating the right person. If you have to struggle and work all the time to make it function, then you need to ask yourself if they are right for you or not!
Myth - relationships are easy and require no work
If you find that a relationship with someone requires no work - keep it up and you will find that relationship rotting and going sour fast.
ALL relationships require work and effort. The question is, how much do you value the relationship and how much are you willing to put into it. Because if the answer is nothing, then obviously you don't value it.
The 'right' person is over rated because you can wait your whole life and never meet that 'right' person which is why most just find something and work at it as you would work at anything else
But if you are lucky to come across a person that requires minimal work great otherwise don't wait around too long. Both are true depending on the context
I don't really agree with that image. I think every relationship will have challenges and require both partners to put in effort, no matter how much of a connection you have. There's always going to be disagreements because I don't know any couple who agrees with each other 100% of the time. People have different personalities and even if you are with the "right" person, it's still not ALWAYS going to be sunshine and rainbows. That's just reality, no relationship is perfect.
Unless you know how to make the relationship work , it will always be a hard work. Even with committed partners , you have to get things right , all the time. One false step , and your relationship can collapse like a pack of cards. That's why , break ups are common even if relationships that start well.
No, I do think they require effort and in order for both people to feel happy you need to put the work in, but you should want to do nice things and want to put in the effort if they truly mean something to you.
Yes !! Hence it's actually easier being a single dad and work FT too , my ex wife was a burden. Hence I will be staying single , even after my children have flown the nest... don't ever want to endure another relationship again !!
I'll put it this way.
Is your own life hard work? Chances are the answer is gonna be yes.
Now throw another person's life into that mix.
Well put , a nightmare if they prove to be a burden... like my ex wife !!
Nope
ALL relationships are hard work, the wrong person makes it impossible, often goes unnoticed if they slowly get worse over time... like the frog in a pot of warm water that gradually gets hotter until he boils instead of reacting & jumping out
I think you need to invest in a relationship... but if you love her a lot it doesn't feel like hard work but like an excellent investment and a joy :D
I think most of the time relationships aren't hard work but if your relationship needs the work you should put in the work
Yeah I agree with this statement. I'm still waiting to find the right girl.
I think relationships are work, whether it's hard is relative and subjective to that persons definition of hard work. No relationship is easy if it worth keeping.
Somewhere in between. It shouldn't be hard all the time, but there will always be rough spots.
over a long enough time line every relationship will have ups and downs and will sometimes be easy and sometimes be a huge amount of work.
YES!!! You said. With the right person, it's never hard work.
Every relationship I've been in seemed like hard work so I've just stopped dating cuz it never seems worth it.
relationships are work, a give and take and if you love someone that committed you will do what you gotta do to make it work
yes were there man work
and the women make it more hard ;p
this is exactly what I thought when reading the question title
I believe they're hard work, just not all of the time. You need team work from both sides.
If it's hard to stay with someone you two clearly aren't mean to be...
if you are a selfish girl and a man then yes it will be hard work. but if you listen and have an understanding it will not be too hard but not easy. if you can balance each other out it will be great. COMMUNICATION! no selfishness...
I believe that all relationships require consistent and constant work the right or wrong person just make it slightly easier or harder.
they shouldn't have to be that much work or ur with the wrong person, love ur profile pic by the way i had the biggest crush on jasmine growing up lol
yes
they wouldn't be in a relationship, IF it was the wrong person
It s always hard work
I agree, you know when the chemistry is right!
Yes it's true but bumps are never easy.
relationship is hard work...
They are hard work at times.
I think all relationships are at times hard work.
Like life, its work. Should be good work.
both are true together
it's easier with the right person
Nah, I just do my own thing at this point
Amen
That's right
Well, for men it is.
For women too
