Why did my boyfriend tell me another girl likes him?

He's said things like this before. He told me this girl from his old school keeps texting him, and she has a crush on him. She's younger than him. He even sent me a picture of her. I said 'you should tell her you ain't single', but he replied 'no, id rather be gay'. I don't know if he misunderstood what I put, but I don't know why he wouldn't talk her he's not single. I acted like I wasn't bothered, and when he sent me her pic, I said she looked sweet. Why would he tell me in the first place though? I feel like he enjoys telling me about other girls that like him

I think he might have misunderstood what you wrote or wasn't clear in how he was speaking. I think he meant I would rather be gay than dating her. I also think he's scared you might think he's cheating if she's always nagging at him and he's trying to be as open as possible but is going overboard. My boyfriend, did something similiar but different. He started out with always telling me about the ex who did the same thing. I told him it was hard to listen to so he stopped telling. A few months pass and then we got into an argument because she was acting up again and he told me a few months ago that she asked him out and he said that he was dating. She went crazy and i never understood why. When he told me, I went crazy because I thought he was hiding something because he didn't tell me but then he explained because of how i reacted previously. Try to find a middle road, i think he's trying desperately to let you know its nothing to worry about.

It's an ego thing. He wants you to know he's still attractive. Bit concerning he won't tell her he's not single though

it's called communication, he tells you the truth and doesn't hide the fact that another girl likes him... you're not gonna yell at him for that. why would he be reprimended?
