Uh, as much as it seems like the "right" answer would be putting my partner above all else, from someone who is younger, I'd probably not put him above, let's say, college or my long-term career goals. I do stuff like write (both as a hobby and for commission) and I'd put him above my hobby, but not my work in some cases. I really think the circumstances matter, though. Did they just ask me to come over? Is there something happening like a banquet they really want me to come to? How much does it matter to them? How much does what I'm doing matter to me? I think perspective is key.
