Is there really a purpose for ever calling anyone that?
How insulting is it to be called an 'Airhead'?
Is there really a purpose for ever calling anyone that?
Not at all, unless objectivity is assumed. When this happens, I begin discussing philosophy, such as Aristotle, or psychology (Freud, Jung), ask where these perceptions come from, what studies they've done into character, morality, culture, for where they believe validity beneath their subjective reasoning, which I emphasize as subjective, comes from.
Usually people fall apart very quickly on vague answers, much like a house largely will seem big or small based on what an individual is familiar with, or used to, what might seem big may seem small to another, many who judge me quickly appear airheads against someone who reads, on average 40+ books a year, and do not like it so much when they're attacked.
The attack itself does not bother me, because of awareness little motivation exists to attack another, or spread negativity, unless an individual's ego is already weak, and needs to bring down another to "vampire" a sense of power or confidence from outside, due to lack within.
I would think it's very insulting! It means you're a brainless twat! Why are you singling out "airhead" when they're so very many other insults of that ilk that mean the exact same thing?
I was dating a girl once and when I blew in her ear she said, "Thanks for the refill!"
I like joking about things like that, it's just when it is serious that it hurts.
YOU'RE not an airhead, are you?
Sometimes... lol
Oh! That's right! You're a blonde!
Depends on how it's said. I've met a lot of people that have called me an airhead for being innocent and not understanding something dirty. Most of the time people are just teasing. Don't think anyone has ever used the word "airhead" as an insult when talking to me. If someone thinks I'm dumb they'll call me stupid or retard or something that sounds a bit more "aggressive"(?)
Yes, there is a point. Anyone who has ever worked the service industry will tell you the same. Some people really aren't smart in certain aspects of their lives and lack common sense. Once had a lady ask me while I was working for a popular CORPORATE RESTAURANT if we had restrooms in the establishment, and it was a stand alone building. Not where.
... thank you for making me laugh, after I read your opinion, which was funny in itself, but then I looked at your user name... lol
Well, when I was in the first grade my teacher called me an airhead and some people laughed.. honestly, it still kind of stings to this day, because I have ADHD and a slow processing learning disability and I can't do anything about it
Awe, I am so sorry that happened to you :(
I'm sure the teacher really didn't mean any harm by it and may have meant it more in jest, but I still understand how that could have hurt you.
People with ADHD are certainly not airheads, in fact many are extremely bright as I'm sure you are!
You're welcome :)
Wait! If my friend told me I remind her of Laurie was that an insult? Because I thanked her
... lol
Oops haha I meant Shelley
The main character from house bunny
That's ok, you gave me a thrill anyway... lol
Awe! It would definitely be a compliment if someone said I remind them of you.
Thank you, you're so sweet :)

It is never a good idea to call your partner such names.
It’s only insulting if you feel you are on, insults only hurt.. when you are insecure about it in the first place,
so for example, if you believe you are so hot and someone says your ugly. You would not be insulted by that.. you would laugh and think they are jealous or something. It wouldn’t hurt you the insult because you truly believe you are attractive,
an insult hurts when we doubt whether it is actually true or not.
so if someone calling you an airhead is insulting.
it means you are doubting whether you are actually clever or not.
and you care way too much about what other people think.
So what if you really are not very smart, and you know it, and someone calls you that... then it really would hurt because it is true?
No, but I mean if it really is true and you know it. Then what?
What do you mean then what? Then you carry on with your day. What are you wanting me to say lol. I’m confused. To tell people never to call you an airhead? As you can tell from gag.. a lot of people intentionally like provoking because they are bored and miserable. There will always be people who will insult you intentionally. You just have to do the best to create a life you are happy with. When you are happy you won’t be so upset with your shortcomings.
Think about a moment in your past. A moment when you were really really happy. In that moment were you thinking anything negative, like I’m so fat, I’m so anxious, why do I do this or that, no. You weren’t. You were just in the moment feeling happy. Well the more happy moments in your life, the less you will care about how perfect or not you are.
If a girl really is not smart, then how would she encourage herself and not have a low self esteem after being called an airhead by guys and maybe even other girls?
That's all I am saying, I didn't mean to offend you, please forgive me Ms Bella.
Well, I am not asking for me... lol, but I mean like an attractive blond girl but is as dumb as a box of rocks... you know the typical dumb blond stereotype...

anyone can have "blonde moments" and do something or say something without using their brains. I have my own epic fail moments. I guess it depends on the context. was it said to be condescending? do they literally think you're an idiot? or was it playful-ish jab because of something u did.
Is it bad to call someone a bubble head if they like bubbles?
I called a blond an air head and she thought I was complimenting her blow dried hair.
I called a guy a muscle head and he thought I was complimenting his physical fitness.
Nyuk nyuk nyuk
It's an insult or put down. That can be said in a fun way that is uplifting, no need to insult someone.
Sometimes "blonde" moments are cute or funny. And there are cases one has to handle that with their mate and accept that's who they are... and it's ok.
To be Called that is an insult but wouldn't let it bother me, what did i tell you @laurieluvsit, negative people you just remove from your life , simple as that, they dont respect u dont respect them , just say see ya , they mean nothing , if someone can feed you negative energy then they aren't important in your life , ignore them and keep positive people in your life
For me, it’s never the nature of the insult that upsets me, but more the lack of fear of physical repercussions that allows them to say something insulting to me. I’m way more bothered that you weren’t scared of getting the shit kicked out of you than I am that you think I’m dumb or whatever it happens to be. Nothing makes me want to fight someone more than them not being afraid to fight me lmao.
Airhead isn't necessarily an insult. It could be, but it could also be a compliment. I told my girlfriend she was my cute little bimbo. And she loved it and I said it because I loved her, yeah she was kinda dumb but I liked her ditzy attitude, she was fun.
I know a couple of women who are complete airheads and for the life of me i don't know how they got the jobs they did. One being a receptionist at my doctors office and another a teller at my bank. Complete airheads
I have reported the spam on this post from Ms BS (perfect initials would you say? ... lol) so that GAG Administration can see it as I have reported it to them, ok Mr Rob?
What i meant to say was that I left it up instead of removing it so they can see it and permanently remove the spammer.
Lol I've got black hair so fortunately I've never been called that!
... lol
I’ve been called an airhead before. I know I can be ditzy at times, but it really hurt my feelings.
I know, I hate when that happens :(
Hmm... I wouldn't say air head was a serious insult, more something like ditzy. A personality trait not stupidity. Someone with their head in the clouds, slightly oblivious but they can be intelligent.
I for one wish people spent more time trying to better themselves, to deprive other of "ammunition"/opportunities to call them names. All y'all spend thousands of hours trying to fight "bullies"/honest people instead of trying to look within and trying to change something.
Boy that video brought a great memory of seeing Dire Straits in concert in the 80s
I know, I wish they were a modern band so I could go see them, I love their music, but I love tons of older music, all the way back to the 60's
Look them up they still could be together and playing like Kiss and Ozzy
Ya, some are still worth seeing but some, like The Rolling Stones, are just too old for me to enjoy seeing live I think, I prefer to remember them as being younger and hot looking... lol
Yeah like the Eurythmics, Cheap Trick, Pet Shop Boys, The Bangles, Areosmith, The Who, Led Zepplin, WASP, Ratt, Poison.
Yes, I totally love "The Bangs" (Bangles) but I think the sex magic with them has faded for sure :(
Oh Like For Sure, Like Totally. They are Not Like It... Nomore!
(My Valley Girl Talk if you didn't catch it)
... lol
It can hurt your feelings at times. I know what they are trying to say and it's not always meant in a bad way but I wish there was a better way to say it.
I said it at age 11 at a skating rink not realizing what it meant and a 16 year old girl slapped me in the face for it.
Oh my... lesson learned the hard way and remembered the longest!
Just words, if you know who you are, it shouldn't bother you.. Why would anyone relevant call you that anyway. I call myself an airhead ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don't think it's right to call someone stupid. I would rather teach that person things that they don't know instead of thinking I'm better.
Normally the term airhead is reserved for attractive dumb people; so, hey, at least you’re pretty if you receive that as an insult.
That wouldn't offend me, since my IQ is probably higher than theirs anyway.
