My boyfriend decided to move far away permanently, does that mean our relationship will be over?

I met my boyfriend at uni, we chose the same subjects, we got a job at the same company but due to some personal reasons he wants to shift to his hometown and want to get settled there, his place is like 1000 miles away from where I live.. He will never come back here.
Does it mean It is over for us, even if I visit him once in 6 months or less, do you think this will workout?
I am really heartbroken but I want the best for him.. I won't be able to move on ever, I really love him a lot.. What should I do? I don't want to be depressed and lose everything..

It depends if you’re willing to consider eventually moving where he is. It doesn’t have to be now, but sometime in the future. Sometimes distance ruins a relationship but it doesn’t have to. It just comes down to your guy’s connection and communication. And also, it’s not all about you. Is he willing to consider coming back in the case you don’t/can’t move there? Are both of you guys willing to consider the future and make compromises to make sure it works out? That’s what is really important.

See the thing is he lives in a small town, there's no scope of working anywhere except if you have your own business there, and career is important for both of us. He will continue with his father's business and I will work here.
So, yes I think this will be over
