I think the one who bought the pet or who it was mostly intended for. That's why I prefer to have my own dog and if you want a pet, you can get one yourself lol.
@PeacefulRainDrop It's an old fairground game which involves using a fake fishing rod to catch a fake duck, the more I think of it the less I think my original reply was of any value lol
@PeacefulRainDrop Very very similar to the fundamental rules of *Hook a Duck* ... Essentially you hook the duck and follow the instruction on the bottom, hence we learn which member of the couple keeps the pet... Simples! lol
Depends on which the pet is more attached to If you love your pet then you should do whats right for him, even if it means keeping your pet with someone he or she is attached to.

Have them both stand apart on one end of the room and have the pet on the other end of the room. Whoever the pet goes to first gets the pet.
I think that's something you discuss together, who is more emotionally attached to the pet, who is able to financially support the pet.
It really should be whom the pet was for. But if they don't care, then the other should take responsibility for them.

Whoever the pet likes to be around the most but there should be an agreement and the person who leaves the pet can't change their mind later.
The one who gave the pet its name will be the one who fights harder to keep the pet.
Who does the pet greet first and miss the most? That is who should get the pet. THE ONE THE PET WANTS.
I assume they coparent and trade weekly like people do with a kid
Usually the person that is the obvious master of the pet. If that's not apparent, they should come to an agreement that works for their situation.
The one that wants and will care for the dog, not the one that decides they want the dog for revenge
Well none of your options.
The one bought the pet, the pet came from they money.
But if you're a failure couple, then neither of you deserve the creature, let him be with a better couple, or release to the wilds. Lol
I'm guessing this was how the game Hook a duck was first established! (I worry this might only be a UK reference lol).
I never heard of it.. what is it?

Ohh haha

Ohh interesting thats cool! Wow!
It's a mix of multiple factors. Who messed up the relationship? Who is better capable of taking care of the pet? Who is the pet more attached to?
Who ever actually had custody of that pet. If it was bought together then it should be half and half visits. :)
Depends on which the pet is more attached to

The one who is closer to the pet and spends more time bonding.
Unless unwanted or unable to take them, the one who got the pet in the first place.
People try to share but whoever has the better space for the animal usually gets it
Man that’s tough maybe someone could stay with them on weekends the other person on weekdays?
Whoever spends the most time with the pet and who does the most for it should get the pet.
