I think it’s a bit much. I think technology has become invasive and people submit to it and rely on it a bit too much. Are you sure that one of the reasons you are so into this… is because you want to track your partner at all times and maybe don’t trust him? If your partner said he didn’t like being tracked 24 x 7, would you just accept that or would you become all suspicions and want to force him to be tracked? This is the kind of dynamic that I don’t like. There is such a thing as personal privacy and personal space. It doesn’t mean someone is up to something evil.
I have zero desire to track my partners every move. We are in a great relationship and I trust her and I want her to have some space. I don’t check up on her, I don’t worry where she is at. She feels the same. We know what we have together is amazing and there is no need. Besides, tracking someone is not going to stop them from leaving you if that is where things are going. And I don’t need to track her electronically to know when she is arriving, etc. that just seems silly to me. Talk. Communicate. Trust. That’s the formula. Not control and monitoring.
But you do what works for you. Not sure why you feel a need to validate this. If it’s working for all of you and no one has a problem with it, just do your thing.51 Reply

If I'm knowingly going into a situation where my life is on the line and have a reasonable expectation that I might die. Sure, to save my life or give evidence for investigators to catch the guys I would share that data.
Outside that. No. Not letting anyone track me, even my loved ones. I don't even put myself on the snapchat map lol. You'll know where I am when you see me or I post directly that information.
Personally I don't care the reasoning. I didn't sign up for a big brother program and I'm not sharing that information. That's me tho. To me this is one of those scenarios where you sharing that information is making a concession that opens up the door down the road to future concessions.
Like someone asking "so why were you at X place?". A good way to avoid that entirely? Don't volunteer that information to begin with, even if they make a safe sounding case that it's because they care.
Most people who are being controlling will make the case that it's because they care.01 Reply
+1 yHmmm… it depends on the relationship. I’m open and honest from the get go. It builds trust. I do understand some of the points about keeping kids on track, making dinner and such, but those could be answered by requesting an “almost home” text from a partner. Yeah, I don’t know about this one. In this modern world of tech we still need space and trust.

+1 yI can maybe see it in the case of young children or elderly parents.
Otherwise, no I think it's too intrusive.. Whatever happened to just calling your partner/spouse if you going to work late? To me tracking them would appear you don't believe they're really working late...00 Reply

+1 y$My daughter has it set up so I can track her and she’s grown and it’s completely her ideal but I don’t let anyone track my phone. Of course that doesn’t mean I’m not being tracked. Hell we’re all being spied on. Google tracks you and spies on everything you do and say. They’ve already been busted for it and it says in googles permissions that it records something like 5 or 10 seconds before you begin to say a command to google assistant and so many seconds after the command. So how does google know your going to say a command before you even start to say anything? It’s because it’s pretty much always recording. Why do we lose the right to privacy just because our government is paranoid? Isn’t this the land of the free? I understand if there’s a certain level of suspicion but to spy on everyone regardless suspicion or threat. So it’s due to such invasions on our rights that I won’t ever use such apps for any reason other than my daughter wanting me to know where she is in case she needs help. I won’t spy on a cheating spouse or thieving employee or lying friend or any other excuse someone would come up with for doing such a low and slimy thing

+1 yI wouldn't mind, as long as no one abuses it. I trust them enough and I don't care of they want to check where I am if they have reason to, but not to stalk me or be paranoid and accuse me of things.
If she wants to see how far I am from home or if I've arrived at a destination yet, or caught in traffic then sure go for it, not monitoring me all the time you said this but you went there bla bla.
Same with kids I'd go with what they were comfortable with, if they don't want me to check how far they are etc then I'll only use it for emergencies. Otherwise I'll use it in the same situations as above. Won't check unless they are ok with it, like we are having argument and they agree to let us check the location at that time. Otherwise resolve it normally, if they choose to lie there's other problems more important than proving them wrong.
But yeah no big deal as long as they agree and no one abuses it.10 Reply- 1.6K opinions shared on Relationships topic.
+1 yFor safety purpose, yes we do and have helped when I had a flat. I was in a car accident, he called the insurance/cops/family, helped me deal with the issue. Let them know where the accident happened. I tracked him and told him to not get into the tunnel which would have taking him to a 2 hour traffic.
He also track my way home to know when to prepare dinner.
has nothing to do with trust or creepy.. just helpful and safety reasons.20 Reply
+1 yI'd def allow it. Swap phones for all I care.
Wouldn't track though - whoever needs this is a cheater.
Had a girl race ahead of me in a particular Belgian village - presumably to tell all what I was doing (or maybe someone else since I was doing nothing) - when I caught up with her and asked a) she stood in front of her number plate like for a police prison photo, totally admiring guilt by body language, b) went into that assholish female 'I feel threatened by you' bullshit avoidance to play dumb - and her neighbours, cunts like her, promptly joined in to hide her guilt.
You can only imagine the disgusting shit people like that do to each other (from sheer boredom, too - all the ones I have noticed participating are incompetent useless morons - you'll never see a master of any trade sink that low - just... well, lowlives (who, after the Kardashians, started looking rich from all the smuggling of narcotics and alike they engage in)00 ReplyAdults do not need to be tracked. I would not do this and I would not allow anyone to track me. It's invading personal space and treating someone like they are a child. Children are the only people who should be tracked and only until they are 18.

far to invasion of privacy, I can understand some needs of it and will be setting up IFTTT geo rules so the house knows where everyone is or rather when we head home etc.00 Reply
+1 yTo be honest, I find the whole concept kinda creepy. I would really dislike this - both tracking and being tracked. I think privacy, freedom and leaving a little mystery in relationships is important.
Though if it works for your family and everyone's happy with it, then more power to you. You do you!00 Reply- 341 opinions shared on Relationships topic.
+1 yIt would all depend. If it was for the purpose of finding family so you know when to start cooking dinner, then I say it is harmless. If it is to find out where the S. O or Spouse is, well that just goes to show where the trust level in the relationship is. If they were to go that far, it would be time to call it quits.

+1 yI wouldn't be afraid of sharing my location with family but only if necessary had control over when I'm sharing. Full on tracking is just too intrusive unless it's for the safety of someone you feel is at risk in some way and I would make it clear to them I'm doing that and for what reason.

+1 yI have a lady friend who is a long haul truck driver. I wanted to track her for one day just for fun to see where she was every few hours. She wouldn't do it... LOL... It is against company policy for her to allow friends to track. It has to do with security, etc. But the company of course knows where the truck is at all times through a tracking system.
00 Reply No
And that’s not because I need you to trust me etc
I think I came to this world alone and I will die alone I will meet god alone so please leave me alone don’t track me don’t follow me because YOU don’t have too it’s NOT your responsibility. If I get robbed if I get killed if I pass out when I’m alone then be it that’s my destiny. I don’t need anyone to track me for safety reason or because so they see where I’m for fun.
So No it’s wrong to do it10 Reply
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yI think most of the time it could be a little much. I can get maybe notifications when they set off from work. If my partner wanted that I would be okay so that when she leaves work like you said she can get back to a warm bath and a cooked meal.
I also think it's not a bad idea incase of an emergency say they text you they are leaving work and it's like 10-20 minutes away and you haven't heard from them an hour later or something like that. Being able to check on them to make sure they are safe I can get.
So I can see pros and cons to it and also why people would wish to not be tracked or be okay with then tracking.00 Reply7.3K opinions shared on Relationships topic. I had a boss that liked to keep track of me and e-mail me about stupid shit every 5 minutes. I have retained my old flip phone so he could not do that. He wanted me to get a smartphone so he could keep track of me and I told him if the college would pay for it I would do it. He never mentioned it again.
00 ReplyAll I ever request in a relationship is equality. When I love someone I will put that love before pretty much anything. For example social media is hurting the relationship and she wants me to stay off. OK fine but you need to do the same. If she wants to track me that's fine but I want the same. I really get down on the relationship if she wants me to give up things but it's OK for her.
00 ReplyNo. It's one thing letting them look through your phone/looking through their phone. It's another when you have to track each other. That shows there's no trust in that relationship, and what's the point in a relationship if there's no trust? Just my opinion.

You don't care because you didn't do it but if you did do it then that's when you have a problem with him asking. IF you are a cheater then yeah it's too invasive. If not they stop acting like you do anything but go to work and the store lmao. Just stop it. Ain't nobody watching you lmao.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yOne of the biggest things that I hate about women is that they constantly spy on their "partner". I don't know if it is out of low self esteem or insecurity or what but I would break up with a girl who did that without my knowledge. She doesn't own me and if she doesn't trust me then what we have is not even real
