Is being too busy an acceptable reason to breakup with someone?

My boyfriend has been extremely busy with his new business and he barely has time for me. We barely text bcs he usually falls asleep as soon as he gets home. I’m tired of being the one chasing after him, he’s also always talking about work whenever we do talk.

I’m trying to be supportive but I’m not getting my needs met as his girlfriend so I was thinking of breaking it off with him but remain supportive as a friend (if that’s possible). I want him to succeed so I don’t want our relationship to get in the way of his career but at the same time I feel like I deserve some attention, I guess we’re just not compatible as a couple at this time. Am I being selfish for wanting to break up with him just because he’s busy?

No i think, while it sucks, its definitely a perfectly acceptable reason to end things.
I would suggest talking to him about it and expressing your issues. Tell him it isn't that you're unhappy with him, just the relationship as he's working so hard. Youd rather be friends for now and leave the position of being hurt due to lack of attention.
If you're upfront about it and clear even though it may hurt him some it will give him understanding and closure.
He may be feeling similar but doesn't want to end things with you vecause of love or obligation etc.

Just talk to him first and let him say what he wants. If you feel you're ready for it to be over just end it there. If you want him to consider it you can tell him to talk to you the next day

Business startups demand tremendous amounts of time. Many years ago my sister faced the same issue with her boyfriend, who happens to be a very good friend of mine (I introduced them to each other) who was starting his own business. My sister couldn't deal with the lack of attention, so she broke it off.

Are you being selfish? Looking at your declared age group, you're not a little girl right out of high school. You're a grown woman with expectations in a relationship which aren't being met, and won't be met until the business gets off the ground and is running. That's not selfish, it's reality.

I'm not going to advise you on what course to take, but as the business gets on its feet, things are bound to improve.

Yeah I understand that, which is why I feel like I’m being selfish. I know that eventually the business will pick up and he’ll have more free time but I’m not sure of if I should just suck it up and wait for him or just leave now

I can't put myself in your shoes. I pleaded with my sister to just wait it out. Of course I was the one being selfish; what man wouldn't want his good friend to be his brother in law? Your circumstances are different. You want the type of attention that your girl friends get from their boyfriends, which your own boyfriend can't give to you... at least not now. Can you wait for him? That's the question, and only you have the answer.

It's of course up to you, but this seems like the least of all sins. He sounds like a pretty good guy. Maybe you should break up with the ones who treat you badly, not the ones who are driven.

He is, which is why I don’t want to get in his way. I feel like I’m only weighing him down, he doesn’t really reach out to me unless I did it first so I feel like I’m just a burden to him

Busyness isn't the issue. There must be other problematic factors that are rooted in this relationship. Love overcomes all problems and obstacles. Perhaps love is missing in your relationship. It's missing either from him to you, you to him or both of you to each other. I love my spouse and children and run my own business but my business has never or will ever get in the way of spending time with my family. Your boyfriend either needs to be disciplined with his time, or he needs to reevaluate his priorities. You both need to sit down and share your true concerns with each other. Only honesty is required.

Yeah that’s the thing, I’ve always been supportive and loving towards him but I’m not really getting the same thing back. His business does require a lot of his time so I understand and I can see where his priorities lie which is why I’m just going to back away and continue support him just as a friend.

Enjoy it that's lot of drama for today's women. I swear if this guy give you more time and attention you will get bored and will broke up with him. Nothing is better for now as there's another woman in the mix because the more women wanting him the more chase the more effort you do this is how ist in the real world that's why good guys lose because they focus on only 1 girl

Anyway You don't have much choices because you did much effort in the relationship that's why it's hard for you to leave because you did invest in that relationship. I believe you will stay for long time but I don't see you will get much of this relationship he's Chad you can't make him commit and make more effort.

Nah he’s not a Chad, he’s just a good career driven guy and I respect that. Well I’m still friends with my exes so I don’t think this is karma, just incompatibility 🤷🏻‍♀️

You're welcome. Both of you should have cut contacts with your ex's even with boundaries it's not fine to keep contact with ex's once it's done it's done.

I believe he's chasing his career that's good thing.
Give it little more time see if things change but be careful don't invest that much because this relationship is falling , if nothing changes then the worse probably is coming he may cut you off totally
