My crush told me "that's what friends are for"?

We're seeing each other quite frequently given our busy schedules and I thought there were some pretty good signs of her having some interest, but I could be wrong.

Today we were having some deep conversations about a problem of mine and it ended with her saying to me that I could tell her whatever i wanted, and that "that's what friends are for".

Could this mean a total lack of interest about something more than just friendship?

I would not spend time trying to analyze the meaning of this statement. It may be nothing more than an idle, spontaneous comment that has no deep meaning whatsoever. She may be at home beating herself up with "why the hell did I make THAT stupid comment. Now he thinks I've friend-zoned him and he'll NEVER ask me out!"

Tell her that you always enjoy spending time with her and then just ask her if you can take her to dinner next Saturday night. Her answer to THAT question will tell you whether she is receptive to more than friendship.

I haven't told her on a date, but I just spoke to her about how I've never clicked with anyone else as much as I did with her as we're connected in such many ways. She said she felt the same as we are too much alike and keep discovering things about each other that we enjoy.

Then she said that I can tell her about anything without worrying about me being too excessive, but after that she said that she's happy that we are friends. How she mentions again our friendship worries me, but feels contradictory with everyone else so I'm pretty much as confused as before

Maybe she is using the word "friends" to suggest that she wants to spend time with you but doesn't want to rush into a sexual relationship.

I have the feeling that her "friends" definition may not be as intentional as many people seem to have to exclude the possibility of something more. I mean, she's the kind of girl reluctant of any social media, not many friends, more introverted... It's hard to analyze, but I don't want to ignore all the "friend" therms she use and be very optimistic if it may be a big flag for being friend-zoned.

Anyway she actually said about wanting to spend time with me, as you said. It would be nice to know if everything can advance towards something more as I'm developing feelings

She may be so shy about expressing feelings that "friend" is the strongest thing she can make herself say to you at this point. I think you should go for it, not try to move too fast, but definitely let her know that you interest is more than friendly.

She actually aknowledges herself to be bad at social skills. That's why I try not to think too much about some things she says (she once said that I'm like a twin to her because of how much mentally alike we are).
So sorry if the overall question was stupid. Just wanted to know if there was some kind of universal take on the calling a guy friend thing. Thank you for your help!

Need to understand friends: some are there for a season. Some are there to lead you. Some are there short term 3 to 6 months and some are there for a lifetime
