If you really love that person, it'd be so much recommended that you both talk a lot, about range of things , emotions, past, aspirations, needs, vulnerabilities and so on and just spend enough time knowing him/her as a person and let there be a space formed where both of you can mutually make decisions and a forever deal isn't something that you can decide on your own, it becomes a forever deal with how much you evolve together as a couple everyday.

In short, ask the person to take time and so do you, know each other well and just talk a lot about the most rudimentary emotions to the most specious one and if you find comfort with each other, just continue the same without worrying about the deal, if it is meant to be, it'll be created through everyday efforts for each other.

You could. You never know what might happen in the future. You don't have to promise anything other than to see how things go. If it doesn't work out or your views haven't changed and got bored, break up.

If you're not ready you're not ready. Nobody can force you to change, but you play along for a bit. Or don't.

In my 20s, I felt the same way. As I neared my 30s I figured I had enough time to myself and my own thing and started thinking about long term things. Never figured I would marry, let alone have kids, yet I did.

Working together, struggling together, learning together, laughing together, crying together, to hole and be held, to dedicate and be dedicated to, to protect and be protected by, through sickness and health, for better or worse, through poverty and riches, all I have ever wanted in this life was that special someone. What's the point in a relationship not to last? Wouldn't that just be a waste of time?
I like knowing people to the end. Even if it's just a friend. Even if you don't want marriage and to be tied down to one person surely it would still be better for let's say a friend with benefits to still remain friends with them even though not doing things together no more.

I am one who stay friends with my ex's, i am one who don't like to know someone just to not know them it seems pointless.

Can wish for forever and strive for it, but cannot make it a sealed deal, no one knows what lies ahead. I cannot promise that I will be with someone no matter what happens, and I am really not sure I can be with someone who thinks like that, some really are too naïve compared to me :D. But if there is room for my feelings on the matter then maybe it can work out.

Like could I date a girl that wants marriage? Yeah, it's kind of why I date at all. Although I don't think I will date, so much as go on a date anymore. My girlfriend is my fiancé in all but name.
