I used to give him a back massage or back scratches because he loves it, ask him what’s wrong and how I can help, listen to him, offer to drive some place to distract, buy food/cook food, tell him his strengths (hard working, resilient, confidence, etc), hug and cuddle with him, give him some space if he needs it/expresses it.
