Girls, How can I confess feelings to my online friend?

I have a friend I have been talking to online. We haven't been in contact for a long time but I can't deny the fact that I already like her a lot and I really want to be more than just friends with her. She told me today that she is meeting up with a longtime online friend in a few days. I don't know if her friend is male or female or whether it's purely platonic or nor but, it gave me a sense of urgency. So my question is twofold. When do I confess my feelings? How do I do it in the best way possible?

I think the best way is to ask if she would like to meet up for something casual, perhaps a lunch. If she agrees, then you get a chance to feel out the situation.

I just found it's a guy friend which worries me. The only thing is it's long distance. I'm from the USA and she's from the UK and I just recently returned from a trip abroad so it will be a while until I can go abroad again. Make no mistake I'm open to trying a long distance relationship but it's going to be several months before I will be able to meet her in person.

Wow, ok. I wasn't aware you meant international relationship. If you are concerned or worried now, I think that is not going to change in a long distance relationship. Seems like you are always going to be worrying.

I know it's not going to be easy but I really want to give it try at the very least. What should I do?

Well, I would video chat or talk on the phone at very least. That is about as personal as you can get.

I think, should you really want to try this, you are just going to have to come out and tell her your feelings. I'm not sure what else you can do to feel out what her thoughts are.

I mean she has admitted to wanting to go to the USA meet a friend there so it's not like she's unwilling to travel to meet people long distance.

I told her I liked her and she said she feels the same. It's still really early on so of course I want to be careful but I am cautiously optimistic.
