I feel like it should because with age comes wisdom and with wisdom comes certain things that only someone in your age group can understand
If a 45 year old man is dating a 18 year old girl who is "legally" an adult, it's certainly not for love and is downright predatory.
Amoral maybe but “predatory” is a stretch. Yes she is still a teenager but she is legally an adult.
Actually I just realized your 20. Yeah I can see how you might find that “icky”. I am used to seeing bitter middle aged women being the most vocally opposed to this.
I am real careful when I talk to younger women. Some like older guys and some don’t. But I never make inappropriate comments especially when first meeting them.
@globetrotter22 The law isn't always a guideline for what is right. If an old man is dating a teenager, or someone who is barely an adult, a person who probably doesn't have much life experience and can still be easily manipulated, then that is a massive red flag. I don't really think it matters whether a "bitter middle aged woman" or a 20 year old girl holds that opinion. I think any sane person would agree that an old man dating a barely legal adult is gross.
I never said it was moral. But again the 18 year old made a decision on it too. Sure they see much more naive at that age. But at 18 you can enter legal contracts and drink/gamble in many countries.
It’s okay to have negative feelings about that. But I notice how some women want to take it the next level and try to accuse the older person of a “crime”. It’s not.

I will never not judge an old man who decides to bunk up with a barely legal girl. It is, quite frankly, disgusting. Legal or not. If you disagree with me, fine, but it's not like it would surprise me.
To each their own on opinions. But remember this girl make a consensual decision to do this with him. It’s not like she’s completely powerless and has no agency.

Passed the age of 25 I think any gap upward is fine. Once the gap is between a <25 year old then we get into question territory.

I agree with you that no marriage or relationship should be beyond 10 years. But I don’t agree that 20 years should be the max in older adults. Imagine a 40 yr old dating a 60 yr old senior citizen. I doubt a relationship like that will last due to life stage incompatibility. A 40 yr old is still full of life and have their entire lives ahead of them. Meanwhile a 60 yr old is at their end of their lives thinking about retiring to the elderly home in a few years.
It’s simply not gonna work long term. If you’re talking about a fling or temporary relationship , then it might work but not a forever marriage

My grandfather was a doctor and he married my grandfather, who was 15 years old when he was 29 himself in the year 1961.
My father was a doctor too. He married my mother who was 18 years old when he was 28 years old himself in the year 1989.
I myself didn't become a doctor and there isn't any girl who has interest in me but if I had become a doctor like them, a lot of girls would have had interest in me.

A long time ago , it was more common to see a 18 yr old girl marrying a 35-50 yr old man because women didn’t have the right to pick their husbands. Back then it was men who had enough to buy a wife , who married the youngest Virgin girls usually they are under 21. And they must be virgin.

Marriage was never about love until the past few decades. For thousands of years , marriage was never about romance or love
and as for large age gaps such as over 10 years , it’s usually the younger spouses that end up dissatisfied when they get older. In fact many of these younger spouses tell me they wouldn’t recommend large age gaps. MoSt of them end up regretting it eventually

The huge decline in large age gap marriages over the past few decades is because women finally are given the right to pick their husbands.
In all honesty, I wouldn’t go for a marriage with a large age gap of over 10 years. I wouldn’t recommend it either. A lot of these people in large age gap marriages have martial issues And aren’t as happy as they want to be.

The only difference between 50s and today is, it was not looked down upon for 30 year old man to marry a 15 year old. Today, the girl should at least be 20 in order to be accepted by soceity.
Today a 16 year old girl can marry but her content by itself isn't enough before 18. Her family should also say okay.
Do you know why large age gap marriages have declined so much?
1. girls typically aren't attracted to old man characteristics, such as white hairs, wrinkles, saggy balls, erectile dysfunction, weight gain, muscle loss. girls like their men young tall, strong and fast.
2. In the past, it was common for girls to marry for money. why? because girls weren't encouraged to pursue an education or have a career. her only way of surviving was to get married to a man who could feed clothe her. Nowadays, girls go to college and can buy their own homes / cars. they have no need to marry a much older man for money. Women do not need a man to feed them.
3. In the past, it was the woman's family who made the decision whether or not to agree to her marrying a man who is 15-40 years older. I have seen women as young as 18-20 years old being married off to an old man 40-70 years old. The girls did not have any say in picking their husbands. It was her family and the men who made the arrangement and agreement. Frequently these marriages are just a financial transaction.
4. Lastly, relationships of large age gaps are usually not made of love but just infatuation. Typically the larger the age gap, the less likely both partners would have things in common. Differences in generation, maturity, life experience, mindset usually accumulates to take a significant effect on both individuals ability to relate, connect or understand each other.
Typically the people who seek out partners who are much much much older than them usually have mommy or daddy issues. OR they admire things like status, image, and like their maturity / experience but in reality can't really connect with them on a deep emotional level. And men who only date much much much younger women tend to only be seeking sex or hot young bodies. These guys like naive girls who they can control and manipulate.
But most of These relationships typically do not last. Of course exceptions exist. But exceptions are not the majority
when i was 24, I fell for a 46 yr old , very good looking man, divorced with 2 kids. Even though I really liked him and he really liked me, I told him that i didn't want to see him again because I simply didn't see a long term future with him. I wanted to a man to get married to, and start my own family. I didn't want to raise someone else's kids. I also don't think I will still be dating him if I were 40 and he's 62. I would be finding myself a younger man that I am actually attracted to and can do things with by the time I hit that age.
