I don't know. I never really did but I wouldn't say it's impossible. It just never happened to me. I tended to fall most for a girl when we slept together only to find I wanted to sleep with her again and again. That was a very different type of feeling from the, "Been there, done that," sort of feeling that sometimes happened which prevented me from becoming smitten.

I can definitely love girls and even guys (as friends, I'm hetero) without sex. But falling in love in the sense of becoming totally infatuated is something that never happened to me until we slept together, and it was never guaranteed that I would become infatuated after.

I'm kind of wired in a reverse way from most though in that love comes more easily to me than infatuation. Even the exes I had with whom I never fell in love were women I cared deeply about in terms of their well-being, and being unable to fall in love with them weren't obstacles for me to commit to them. Infatuation was extremely rare to me where I crave a girl more than anything in the world and can't keep my hands off of her. That only happened to me twice in my life (once with an ex in my early 20s and the second time was with my now-wife).
