It's so sad to see a nice guy being helpful to a woman who just wants to be independent. How do nice guys deal with these women?

I was watching the food channel - the tv show Chopped was on. If you've ever seen the show, the chefs only have 20 minutes to cook an entire meal. The lady was running out of time, so he helped the woman in the last minute. When asked if she liked him helping her, she said it was appreciated, but she wants to be independent! The guy was just being nice to her. Now I see what guys are up against with some women these days 🤬. He was hurt. You could tell by the look on his face. I think if a guy is trying to be nice and be a gentleman by helping you with anything, would it kill you to just let him be nice to you?
Someday these women are going to need help in their life. They cannot remain totally independent when they are old and in a nursing home 🛏️.

I just make a slightly rude comment about her and walk away.
One afternoon, I was walking along the sidewalk at the mall a mile from my house and spotted a woman coming out of the store she was in so, I held the door open for her. I had no plans of going in, I was just being nice to her (can't think of the correct word, swashbuckling?), and she waltzed right through the door as if she was the fucking queen and it was MY JOB to hold the door open for her or, like I owed it to her!! She never looked at me, said thank you, goodbye, kiss my fucking as, nothing!! I made some kind of rude comment, I can recall what, and jest kept walking to where I WAS going. A "thank you" and a smile would have sufficed!!

I think that show was a different situation. It's a competition in which the contestants are judged on their own performance. She wanted to show that she could complete the task on her own.
Before the guy jumped in to help, he should have asked her if she wanted him to.

Yes, I can see how a woman could feel as if she were being treated as a helpless damsel if a guy jumped in and said "Here, let me do that for you" when not asked. I've heard of women being treated like that in other types of situations. Men tend to jump in and dominate, sometimes without even realizing it. It can be disrespectful, as if the men are treating them as if they are incapable, incompetent, lesser than.

I can see wanting to be independent in life. I'm an independent person, myself. But not to the point of wanting loneliness or driving people away. I'm grateful to those who show kindness by offering help. There's nothing weak about accepting polite assistance or being gracious. In fact, in some circumstances, getting butt hurt can be a sign of a fragile ego and low self esteem.

I do admire a woman who is plucky, determined, bright, competent, confident in her abilities, knows what she wants, speaks her mind, and doesn't put up with bullshit. It's great when she can do that with tact and feminine charm, as opposed to petulance or outbursts aggression. THAT'S a woman with brains.

My wife is independent. She made her own way quite nicely starting shortly after high school. She moved from her home town, built a career, made new friends, and had some great life experiences.

Both of us are bull headed in our own ways. We help each other all the time, but won't be bossed around.

Another aspect of independence is the lady-gentleman game. I like it when women appreciate having a door held for them or being helped into their chair at a restaurant. They are fully capable of doing that stuff on their own, but it's a cute when they allow themselves to be treated like delicate flowers. A guy feels ten feet all when she treats him like her big strong protector who makes her feel safe and secure. It's great when she puts her little hand trustingly into his or gazes up into his eyes.

So, there's a difference between being independent and being insecure.

I think denying somebody the pleasure of being kind is kind of rough. I agree with the individual who noted that is a cooking competition. Perhaps another situation the female who is helped were asked if they would like some help make consider helping somebody else down the line. Kind of like a pay it forward.

I don't help girls and women anymore. I have stopped helping girls and women few years back. They have insulted me, treated me badly. Yeah got to walk on a lot of eggshells around women never know what might set her off. This why I dont even talk to any of the women at work anymore unless I absolutely have too. No point, nothing to gain, only potential issues
