What happens when a couple can't agree on house decor / theme?

They love each other to death so obviously they're not going to let house decor break up their relationship.
But they simply do not agree on aesthetics, what should be done?

They get their own room of the house to decorate how they want

The man should give in

The woman should give in

There is no one simple answer to this question. It depends on a multitude of factors, including how drastic the degree of difference is and how strongly the couple holds their own opinions.
You can solve it by one of the two giving in, you can solve it by the one who takes care of the house gets a larger share of the input, the person who pays for more can make the decisions, the person who spends more time there can make the decisions, you can do a mix and match to make a new style, you can have different areas of the house in different styles, etc.

There's a lot of options and different answered will be right for different couples.

The couple could try looking at some model homes or consulting with an interior designer. Or they could wait on making significant changes. Or defer to whichever person spends more time in the room in question.

They should try to find a décor/theme that they both liked. If they still can't find then they could get their own room and decorate on their own.

Maybe he decorates one room and you other? Or he chooses the colour and you the style of the furniture. It's all about compromise.
