Like, working during the day and maybe 2-3x a week he's got stuff going on after work before he comes home to me?

No problem. I work during the day and 2-3x a week like to have activities that take me outta the house or keep me busy.

I prefer a man with a life to someone who either doesn't work and doesn't have hobbies, or someone who works but then just goes home to sit on the couch.

If all he does is couch he'd probably be unattractive in person anyway, regardless of how good he seems when texting.

Everyone is different and everyone has unique expectations.

There's no use in coming up with hypothetical answers - the REAL answer is "whatever works for you and your partner".

Personally, I like to respond to people I love as quickly as I feel able. Or as quickly as needed if it's a logistics thing.

But if I'm working, busy, or not in a good place to have a proper conversation, I'll wait to respond. If it might take a while and my cadence in response time is changing, I might give a heads up.

Just be genuine.
If that means responding right away, good. If that means taking your time to make sure you put together a message you're satisfied with, good.

But be you. The last thing someone interesting in dating you wants is for you to pretend to be someone you're not. Because, again, they're choosing to date YOU. As you are.
