Is it common for men to cheat with older women?

So, there’s this 36 years old man with 34 years old wife who cheats on his wife with 47 years old woman for a year already and he keeps buying her some very expensive gifts.

I’ve heard men cheating wives for younger women, which is equally bad, I just have not heard of men cheating with older women, why would that be?

Some say women lose market value after 40 (which I highly disagree), yet some men enjoy sleeping with older women rather than their younger wives.
