What do you call someone who turns their back on everyone and everything so they can pursue a cause they believe is right?

Usually... I would call that person "misguided". But it depends on the situation. Sometimes that person might be "courageous".

My fundamental question would be:
"Why would anyone NEED to turn their back on everyone and everything if the cause they were perusing was, in fact, a righteous one?"

The only instances I can come up with where someone would be "courageous" as opposed to "misguided", are situations where "everyone and everything" in someone's life are completely fucked up.

For example, if someone were brought up in the "white-power" movement by super-racist parents... and your whole world (and everyone in it) is full of hate, and other such bullshit... THEN you're courageous for turning your back to pursue whateverthefuck.

Aside from situations like that... I would call that person misguided.

Doing something important to you shouldn't entail turning your back on "everyone and everything". If it does... you need to take a look at why people who care about you wouldn't be supportive of your decision to take up whatever cause.

@OBB29 maybe... but not necessarily... it could be a long-thought-out plan. But it could be impulsive as well. I guess it depends. I'm sorta curious as to whether this is a hypothetical question
