+1 yAbsolutely a girlfriend who loves animals is a positive plus when dating or looking for marriage.
For me if I was dating someone like that and it got more serious and especially if we got married I would want us to get a dog together and then depending on our circumstances/responsibilities branch out into some other animals too potentially.
Now with anything I believe in balance. Her loving pets would be a great trait as long as she does not take it too far. For example: having a very large amount of pets even though we might not have the time or space for them all, obsessing over them to an unhealthy degree like putting them in strollers or dropping everything to attend to them if it isn't an emergency that it negatively impacts our personal or professional lives and responsibilities, they don't establish boundaries or discipline so their pets don't listen to them, prioritizes their safety over people's safety say a truck is coming and you only have time to save your pet or a random child of course you would want to save both but saving the child takes priority, etc.
Extreme examples but I have seen proof and mentalities of these aspects before. Thus, to conclude yes having a significant other who loves pets is a great quality as long as it is not taken to an obsessive or damaging degree as with many things in life.22 Reply- +1 y
Brilliant opinion! This is very true, being obsessive is not very healthy.
- +1 y
Thank you very much! Yeah it is true anything taken to the extreme obsessive is not good for the individual or those around them.

I told the owners of the cat that I was allergic to them but the cat didn't seem to care it was stained and that's all there was to it so I kept the cat LOL yeah I'm a pet lover too so if I date somebody or marry somebody they have to be a pet lover no matter where I go people's pets follow me30 Reply

+1 yThough I LOVE horses, I've gone through my pet phase completely and don't want the responsibility of being tied down by a pet. Grew up with dogs, had cats for 25 years. Last cat was the best and only got him because my toddler, who's now 27, was charmed by that nervy little stray at age 3. He lived to age 16 and never used a cat box, Slept on the foot of my son's bed and loved to curl up with you on the sofa.
Became allergic to cat dander and was not going to take meds to have a cat around, so after Whitey died in 7 years ago, I was done..
I don't do dogs, though I admire a nice dog and see them and converse with owners daily. Can't have a pet in the house because of allergies, not paying for medication to have a pet, will not sleep with a domestic dog, cat or pig. Also, the costs for pet care, vet bills, is not affordable. I'm on a tight budget.
Even if I could afford it, don't want it. I enjoy other people's pets. They're like grandchildren. I interact with them when I choose to, not because I have to.10 Reply

+1 yYes I would. When I was a child though I used to beg my parents for a lot of pets. I had dogs and cats. As I am older now I realize what a big responsibility that it is while I want pets I only want maybe one or two. Especially if I have children.
Maybe when my children grow up and move out of the house maybe I would have more pets then. But they really are a LOT.
Though I do want a dog or two maybe a cat. I don't know if I would get a puppy again. I maybe would go for a fully grown dog that is house trained. I fostered so many dogs some dogs were really good and too hard to let go of while others were horrible.
I don't think I will do that again either though it was fun while it lasted and a good experience20 Reply2.7K opinions shared on Relationships topic. I would but I wouldn't date/marry you.
You love HOR$E$ and I have learned the hard way that HOR$E$ are a black hole of money. My wife's HOR$E hobby is probably going to cost me over 1 million dollars in lost wealth and will prevent me from retiring - I must work until I die.
So, unless she has about $100,000,000 in the bank already, I won't go near a woman into HOR$E$.216 Reply- +1 y
That's a good point, they do cost lots but I think it's better to be into horses than buying expensive handbags, jewelry etc.
- +1 y
I am not so sure about that...
My wife got a new horse in 2019 or 2020.
He was a horse with a small back.
So, none of her existing saddles fit and she couldn't find a saddle that would.
So, we drive 12 hours to Texas with the horse, get the horse measured, and have a custom saddle built.
$3600 for the saddle which came 3 months later.
My wife didn't like the saddle at first because he didn't build the saddle according to her specs.
She later learned to appreciate what he did.
OK, new horse with a new color and new saddle... gotta buy all new "tack" that goes with the horse's color.
Meanwhile, the farrier fucks up, so the horse is a bit lame. We get into boots instead of horseshoes so the horse can heel. Not much riding. Meanwhile, no farrier around here can properly trim a horse for boots so we have to drive 5 hours away to get the trimming done.
But then the boots are problematic because they come off on trail rides thus annoying my wife's trailriding girlfriends.
(more) - +1 y
Meanwhile, the horse is very finicky and problematic with bugs and Lord knows what else.
She sells the horse this past December having not ridden him much.
That new custom saddle is worthless for the new $10k horse she bought with our home equity loan money that was to be for home improvements.
So, new horse, new tack.
The custom, hardly-used saddle? Gives it away to her girlfriend.
Meanwhile, the trailer we bought in 2013 was nice but not good enough.
She goes to Kentucky 200 miles away to get a new trailer.
Total lemon... problem after problem. We probably threw away $6000 in customization and getting things fixed.
Now, we have a new better bigger trailer - one that may be too big. It too has some problems and we haven't even had it for 2 months.
Oh... by the way, we had to buy a new truck to pull the trailers.
And the truck bed? Too tall - would get destroyed with a gooseneck hitch.
So, we had to pay an extra $7600 to get rid of a perfectly new truck bed to get a flat bed which just got messed up and an accident and can't be repaired.

Farriers - oh yeah, she gave up on boots... So much for all those trips to the boot farrier 5 hours away and the $1000 or so on boots...
Oh, and the barn she had built was too small... so we needed a "lean-to" attached to it.
The lean-to is costing me 3 times what the barn cost.
What I owe on my house is less than 1/3rd what I owe on the home equity loan for all these fixes due to the HOR$E$...
==========
No. I'll take the expensive handbags and jewelry. They can retain value and be sold... even at a profit.
HOR$E$ just suck money...
- +1 y
I'm sure there are cheaper ways of doing things, if you are good with your money.
- +1 y
In your defense, a lot of problems go away IF you have enough money to begin with so you can organize your life to avoid these problems.
For instance, we keep our horse on our property... BUT WE ONLY OWN AN ACRE!
If we had 10 acres, I wouldn't have to shovel shit or own a tractor.
If I had enough money and property, I could have had built a large enough barn at the start.
If I had enough money, I could have gotten the right trailer to begin with.
If I had enough property, I could grow my own hay or just let the horse graze and never buy hay except maybe to get through the winter months.
If I lived closer to good riding, my fuel costs would be lower.
I live in Missouri. My wife is on her way to South Dakota for 2 weeks. Fuel alone is going to cost about $2500 and that's if it doesn't go up much more this month. - +1 y
It's true, every thing depends on money.

@Horse-girl
Are you an equestrian or trail rider yourself?
Do you do rodeo?
My wife did barrel racing when she was your age. - +1 y
I ride, over here we don't have rodeo or barrel racing so I just do trekking.
- +1 y
What is "trekking"?
Just make sure that you avoid going to Talos IV... that's bad - real bad!
You get the death penalty for that!

+1 yI am okay with men liking cats, and preferring cats over dogs but i prefer dating men with dogs than cats, because 1 apparently i have cat allergies, 2. i do not want to be a cat owner, i have my reasons but i won't share them out of respect for cat owners, cats are cute, its true but i prefer doggies!. i would happily be a dog owner any day!
10 Reply982 opinions shared on Relationships topic. Yeah. I like pets too. I prefer big dogs the most. I'd probably prefer to wait until I had kids that were old enough to clean up after the pets though and feed and water them each day. Just show them a movie with dogs and they would ask for some, then I could get them to agree to feed it each day if I buy the pets and supplies for it. :)

Not sure about Tigers but Lions are very social with humans.
In fact I have had my hand in a lions mouth and hey still 10 digits.
Ok, Ok, it was only a lion cub when I was 5. He bounced up to me and said 'you wanna play'. In reply I grabbed his canine tooth and shook it like I did with the border collie pups on the farm. We were having a great time together until my parents noticed what I was doing and smartly marched me out of the Royal Melbourne Zoo.
I'd have lion for a pet except I have an apartment, don't have butcher friend and there would be all those bones to carry down to the trash cans.
