I have been dating a guy for 4 months now. He’s lovely, we don’t always agree on everything but generally we get on nicely. I like a lot of things about him. However, I am still in contact with a man I met 2 years ago when I went abroad. I had an amazing time with him, I really liked his character and have kept in contact since then. He’s so handsome, kind and funny. However, we never arranged meeting up after that, and although I know he likes me and feels comfortable with me, he never spoke about wanting to be serious with me. Now that my relationship with my boyfriend is progressing, I know I need to cut this guy out and stop texting him, or let go of my boyfriend. I don’t want to do the wrong thing. Does anyone have any advice?

your question is a bit confusing but i think i understand what you're asking.

although you communicate via text with the abroad guy, you admit that you've never even discussed "being serious" with him. does he even know you consider him a boyfriend? are you ever going to see him again? (consider the $ and logistics required to maintain a long-distance relationship - be real - and decide if it's even possible.)
from sound of you rmessage you don't have a boyfriend abroad. if this is the case, there's no need to "cut him out" - again b/c he's not a boyfriend - he's a friend in a faraway land with whom you exchange texts and just happens to be a guy.
