There are barely any jobs in my field where my boyfriend lives. He is a corrections officer. Should he consider that in where we settle down?

boyfriend has told me he is sick of long distance and falling out of love because I haven’t find a job close to him and moved in with him yet (I have said I want to move in with him asap and am looking for a job). He says he is lonely. He bought a house where he lives and would expect me to get any job til I find something better. I however don’t want to give up my job cause I went to school for 6 years and want to utilize my degree and don’t want gaps like that in my resume. Am I being self centered and is there a solution to this?

Need more information. Can you tell me what degree it is? I don't know anything about where you are trying to move.

Like does he live out in the middle bumfuck no where, where there is nothing but dairy farms and you have a degree in tech and need to be in the city or a suburb of a city?

I have a masters in biochemistry and yes the abundance of jobs are in bigger cities. He is a corrections officer. Also every weekend I have gone to see him but he barely if ever visits me.

Try to attend seminars in the near by area and network with people. Making friends and associates is the best way to get a job fast. Most of those employers in his area probably won't even bother reading anyone's resume. So you need make connections. Is there anything you can teach or do online.

The jobs are really are scarce and when they are available no where near the quality that I could get elsewhere. I’m pretty sure you can get corrections jobs anywhere

No I don't think it's a good idea to give up your main source of income and independence for a guy. But if you are inlove so I can't tell you not to do it.

It is your dreams and worked very hard for it. But at the same you are 29, you're no longer a teenage girl that has all the boys drooling for her and you don't want to have kids at 40 and have potential birth defects. It's a decision you have to make I can't make it for you.

Since the United States is the most successful country when it comes to creating prisoners, I would assume he has no problem finding a job in your area? So what stands against him moving?

He says he doesn’t like cities but wouldn’t consider suburbs either. He’s not close to family and doesn’t have many friends either. Also I have traveled every weekend to see him and he barely comes to see me I’m just exhausted lol.

You should not give up your degree to become a housewife/waitress in his neck of the woods!
