My 26YO sister just found out she is PREGNANT from her extremely ABUSIVE ex? (We are from Missouri)?

Literally so worried for my sister.

she has been staying at my house for 5 weeks now as her ex partner tried to k*ll her by running her over. He’s in jail right now but my sister still
fears for her live as he has many friends that he gets to check up on her.

She took a pregnancy test today and unfortunately it came back positive, we calculated she’s probably at least 7 weeks.

He took all her money, destroyed her self confidence and im pretty convinced that the baby is a result of him forcing himself on her but she won’t tell me.

Abortion is illegal, now. I don’t know how to console her or anything

Forgot to mention: she isn’t legally allowed to travel out of state for some stupid reason because she's due in court in the future

The best way to help your sister right now is to help her find the help she needs..
If she was in an abusive relationship, look into programs, places that help battered/abused women... Don't know how things are now with/after Covid but there's battered women's shelters that will help, they used to provide shelter, clothing, counseling and help for getting back on your feet.
If your sister is battling substance abuse, that's something that needs to be addressed right away, anyways but especially if she's pregnant as that could affect the pregnancy/child...
As for the pregnancy, she needs to give it serious thought and consideration, this is not a decision to be made lightly or rashly. Explore the options available... There's plenty of programs out there for single parents as well as people that are looking to adopt...

Does Missouri have child support laws? can she take back the money? Also, if he truly "forced himself on her", try finding this out since there can be legal action she can take. That baby is simply another victim in that man's abuse. The best you guys can do is stay safe first, and try learning about this stuff. If she genuinely doesn't want the baby, look into adoption as much as you can. If she does want to keep the child, look into as many support groups and organizations that can donate items and help the mom. You're in the south, there will likely be a lot nearby.

I have to look up about child support but haven’t really thought of that because she’s dead set on the fact she doesn’t want to raise a child in such a dysfunctional household. She also has substance abuse issues and depression that she hasn’t fixed.

Maybe she will change her mind, maybe this child will help her but I dunno ….

It seems like this situation has been extremely difficult on her, I can imagine how brave she has been getting this far. Try to help her think/focus on the future and help her get help if you can, it sounds like she currently sees the situation pretty dimly which will probably make things worse. She will survive things and things will get better, after all, she has made it this far. The steps now would be supporting her and her baby during difficult times, and getting her the help that she needs.

Many women regret their abortions so I wouldn't recommend your sister go through with it. I can send you studies if you want but abortion can likely worsen her depression and her situation. A professional can help her with her substance abuse and depression as well as any scars from her abusive ex. I'm simply sending best wishes to all three of you and I hope the future brings better times to your sister and her baby.

You can keep the baby. I wouldn't say "the baby didn't do anything" but I'd say that if you guys can raise it, and she's okay with having him/her then you should probably keep it. The abuser is behind bars and he might be not the most loving husband, but if the baby's hers too. If it doesn't torment her into remembering past, I say you guys keep it. Of course, the final decision would be her, but I'm saying that in this case, the baby's arrival doesn't sound unwanted, keeping in mind the abusive father is out of picture.

There’s natural ways to induce miscarriages. Apparently papaya seeds can cause miscarriages. It isn’t ideal but if she doesn’t want the pregnancy then I don’t know what else to suggest other than searching natural abortion methods.
