Why would someone hide their relationship from social media?

I’m not big into social media but at the same time I expect my boyfriend to post me at least once (and that’s it) - basically to “announce” to his friends that he’s now with me. Other than that, I would appreciate it if he would keep the rest of our relationship off of social media.

I have a friend who does that.. seems like she wants to have attention from other men now and then, she at least happily tell when an old flirt contacts her on SoMe. Even ask her for a coffee and she act all surprised when she discovers he did not know she is in a relationship.. even though it says she is single online xD even happened a couple of times now, so she should not be 'surprised' anymore
