What about if it was a loved one? It doesn't have to be something like cheating, just lying about something serious.

people have lied to me before, and they were "big" lies and they were also people I loved, however, in this particular circumstances I didn't make it about our trust because it was not exactly about me, or related to me... they just didn't tell me the truth about it they did not tell me everything about it

and for this, they had their reasons to do so... so I made it about those reasons instead, why did they feel they had to do this, why did they need to do this, and especially why do this if I was going to find out about it later anyway

I made it about understanding their reasons to do this, and then we just took it from there, now... in this particular cases a new and better trust and bond came out from those "lies" and things even got better after that because well, they did not have that kind of pressure or burden on their shoulders

now, for other kinds of lies or situations in which they involve me directly or there is more hurt or pain, or deceit or damage done, I am not sure how I would handle it, and I would not like to assume without actually going through it... because it would depend on many circumstances that would I have to consider to make a decision and take it from there

Okay so honestly a person past behaviors is a good indicator of ones future behavior. Hey, they did it once so would they be less likely to do it again?

Some people make excuses for it like I only did it for this reason or that and I would never do that to you because you're different... different until they feel like your just like the other person and they find themselves in the same exact situation or at least they convince themselves they are.

But sometimes people have to learn from their mistakes to avoid doing them again... so it all depends on the person I guess.

So I have friends and relatives, and honestly once you lie or fail me I feel like under the right circumstances you would easily do it again or it would be easier for you to do it again. So do I love then and trust? Sure to an point but I would never truly or completely put my self in a situation where I would have to rely on them or with anything I could not afford or was losing to loss if I did.

For me, it will really depend on the severity of what happened that my trust was broken. If it is something major, like cheating, there is nothing that they could say that would earn my trust back. That is just an example of something that I find so despicable and disgusting as well as the ultimate betrayal of trust.

I guess there could be other things that are a lot less severe that they may be able to apologize and earn my trust back over time. We all make mistakes from time to time and if it was a honest mistake that they realized, then there is the possibility.

I'm thinking of this pretty much from a relationship standpoint and not much outside of that. Sure, there are likely things friends could do that would be to the point I wouldn't forgive them. But as it stands in a relationship, there are certainly a list of things I couldn't get past.

There are also things that I could understand and get over if they worked at gaining my trust back. Fortunately, in my current relationship, I haven't had to deal with any of that. So, lucky me so far.

I don't trust people easily and it's very difficult for me to trust someone again if they broke it. It depends on the severity, why they did it, and how well I know them.

I have long ago accepted that good people can, on occasion, lie and even betray. If they have a record of being honest and reliable, then yes, it's possible they can rebuild my trust.

It would depend on what the situation was between us. If it was incredibly severe then it might be a long time to repair the trust between us

It depends. In a friendship you probably can. It's easy to test friends by making things seem more important to you than they are and whether they pass or fail. Relationships are different though, for me I've wanted to but I just couldn't.

Maybe. But they'd have to make an effort. She can't just say she's sorry and all is right with the world again. I mean because that kind of proves that she really isn't even sorry. Now doesn't it.
