I’d say fight for like a week and try to convince them otherwise. I know some people who would break up just to see if their partner really loves them or not. If they really mean it and they really want to break up with you, then you have to choice but to move along.

It honestly depends. Regardless, you have to let them go because you shouldn't force someone to stay with you, why would you want someone to be with you out of pity?

However there is no shame in making an effort to show them you care if you truly love them and believe it could work out, but I think it's best to wait a while before doing this so you don't come off as desperate.
