It really depends on how imminent the danger is. If I think I can de-escalate it, I'll try. If an attack is clearly coming and won't be stopped, then I'm going to immediately attack myself with the aim of disrupting their attack. It's the last thing most attackers expect, and it's likely to give me a small window of advantage as they'll likely be slow to react.
Milliseconds count, so you have to be mentally prepared to act, which means you need to be paying attention to your surroundings and anticipate problems (i. e., situational awareness). Being caught unawares is how you end up a hostage, or dead.
Depends on the situation. I usually don't get into violent situations but if I have to I will fight but I'm not really practiced so it will be difficult. I think my brain can hande things like this but only if it really sinks n that this is a do or die situation then it shuts off all the overthinking and useless stuff and just fully focuses on the moment and what I have to do and I feel like I et a boost of energy too. But if it doesn't get the message then it's harder.
I totally freeze up and evaluate what’s happening. If I feel I’m going to be hurt, I get away. If I feel that the person being violent is just having an outburst, I stay frozen until they’ve got it out their system and then ask if they’re okay.
They usually make me extremely calm and focused. I’ve been told by paramedics I would do well in fire/police/medic for that.

Working in hospital public safety made me part of the cavalry that nurses and doctors called when patients became violent towards them. Scene size up and then training kicks in. It’s really not that exciting or pretty; a lot of restraints, some wrestling matches, a few arrests, but definitely prefer verbal de escalation if possible. Violence is not fun or exciting, and should be a last resort. We’re trying to go home at the end of the shift just like everybody else.
It depends on the situation. If I am in the presence of a woman. My natural instinct is to get her away as safely as possible.
If backed in a corner then I will fight back. Same if I am placed in a confrontational situation. Ideally diffuse the situation but if that isn't attainable then resort to violence as a last resort.
Depends on the situation. I have a fierce temper, but i’m also smart enough to properly assess a threat. If i’m forced into a confrontation, i’ll absolutely fight. But if i don’t see a path to winning while taking minimal damage, i’m not too proud to run.
Fleeing is also good defence by the way. So don't think of it as you nit being able to stand up for yourself.
I am a martial arts student and one of the advice we get, is fight so you can flee. Not fight and be an imbecile thinking you are superman and can fight a bigger gang. It is pretty much the same thing the Navy Seals are taught.
So congratulations to you. You have one form of survival instinct on lock.
I get into attack mode which isn't smart! I keep being scolded by my boyfriend becuz i do that! but i like when he punishes me with spanking! LOL!
Gotta brat to get the spank 😆
LOL! I am a brat!
First and foremost - avoid potentially violent situations in advance.
Second - find any way to get out of a situation that looks like its going to get violent
If unable to do so:
For women - recommend using pepper spray.
For guys - recommend knowing how to defend ones self.
THEN get out of there.
By making sure I never get into situations like that in the first place (ex. I avoid places where drunks are likely to be late at night, i. e. pubs, nightclubs).
I stand there and help to tone it down, it's our relationship, it's not and UFC fight, plus i never lay my hand on my lady no matter how violent it gets.
I would try to help whoever was in it's path. but it would really depend on what's actually happening.
I avoid them as much as possible. If I can't avoid it, I'll just defend myself to avoid being hit. And if it's not enough in general I end up snapping and hitting like a brainless barbarian until either me or the other person give up.
I really don't want to get hurt so I just get out of there. If I can drag someone with me to safety, I will.
If it's fist to cuffs, I'll try & break it up. Otherwise I'm recording & calling the cops.
If they're coming at me then I'll defend myself.
What I would do would depend upon the situation.
My default position is that, if I am attacked, one of us will leave in a body bag.
Thankfully I haven't had violent occurrence, but I hope I would try to fight.
I fight and Buy time for my Bois and Girls to flee..
Get ahead start, than i flee.. And since i am sprinter, I can easily escape!
It's is just some stupid bullshit, I try to deescalate the situation. If there is an immediate threat to my or somebody else's safety or life I escalate the level of violence accordingly.
I either talk my way out or respond with brutal force. I don't really like to fight, but it's needed on occasion.
I know I seem like an innocent cartoon cat, but I'm a former bouncer and trained boxer.
Try to get away as fast as I can is the best response. I don't want to end up doing something very stupid and ruining my life.
The best defense is always avoidance 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
I try to de fuse the situation but am not adverse to return with more violence.
