I have only been told I love you from friends, family, and my husband and children. The relationships I had before him did not progress far enough for me to say that or the significant other to say it either. You definitely don’t want to make the other person feel uncomfortable.

Saying I know it’s a bad move. The same thank you is a bad move. There really is only one proper response, and hopefully the two individuals who are dating are at that point to say it to each other

I don't say it unless I really mean it. If they said it to me, I wouldn't ignore them, but don't expect it back anytime soon
